Sounds like Mitsubishi might be trying to do what people on this very forum have been crying out for recently - weight reduction. Smallish coupe with aluminum space frame and composite/plastic body panels.
As long as they can manage to do this with acceptable chassis dynamics, durability, and body integrity... this might be a winning combo, especially in contrast to the current Eclipse that I never really could see a reason for existing...
Make a light weight mid sized sports coupe with acceptable torque and best in class fuel economy and a DSG type transmission and I think it'll be a serious winner.

Yup, maybe I'll be second in line behind you.

I agree 100%... I'd buy one if the interior suits me. THe ext could be HAWT, but if the inside six, there's no way I could drive it. Physically that is.
I recently saw a newer Lancer on the road.. THat car is NICE! I've allways carried a torch for those cars!

although I highly doubt any of that is going to translate into the production eclipse. A sporty AWD turbo diesel would be a fun ride, though.
