Powertrain news......

Thought I'd post this before the Christmas festivities begin.

Some V6 tid bits:

The new, high tech, 4 valve, DOHC, with continuous valve phasing, High Feature V6 will be be initially available in 3.6 L displacement and have 260 hp and 250 ft-lbs of torque.
2.8L and 3.2L versions are on the way as are turbo versions. It can also be punched out to 3.8L if necessary.

Power ranges will be from 200hp/200ft-lbs torque to......get this!......370+ hp/350+ft-lbs torque.

They will be manufactured in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada and Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Also, the GENIV smallblock will be here in 2004. Expect a wider range of displacements and applications.

MERRY CHRISTMAS.

.....and for those wondering about the the "High Value"...it will, essentially be a revision of the current 3.1 and 3.4 60* V6.

3.5L displacement and DoD is on the way. Horsepower for the new 3.5? 190.

6.0 litre keeps being mentioned with C6... so much so that it seems to be a given....

The 6.0 seems to have GM's attention lately. Lookat what's in alot of their concept trucks and the SS concept next month. They are all 430 hp 6.0s. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 6.4 L gen IV either.

And on the "high value" V6....the pontiac G6 concept ( a peek into the the next Grand Am)...will have a high value 3.5 V6 with supercharger making around 280 hp.

interesting news... so the aussies are going to be building it also eh ?

so who is building the 'high value' and who is building the 'high feature' V6? or do they both build both kinds ?

also who will build the gen IV , i hope its the aussies... (piston slap is very annoying in the LS1.)

Gen 4 V8? Is that the 75 degree 2 under-head cammed engine?
That blown HF V6 sounds odd--I thought it was orinally slated for the CTS V---but they took the V8 instead--less trouble perhaps?

3.5L HV sounds like a yawn---Gm should just scap it and the 3800 in favour of their new HF V6's.

The logic of 2 different engine familes escapes me

The XV8 is probably not destined for production. But many of it's technology features will see production in various engine families.

I have heard 230HP for the new 3.4L. the Aztek 3.4L is 185HP now, so 190 wouldn't be much of an improvment.
