If those pictures are NASCAR's best attempt at bringing back pony cars to racing, I wont watch. Just use stock bodies with the COT underneath it.

its almost as bad as just stickers..lets throw the front end of the ponycar onto the template car already made..and thats what they did.

and sorry 95..didnt mean to jump down your throat

He's suggesting that they race stock cars. NO MODS (except the roll cage and maybe some other safety equipment). You can make adjustments (e.g. suspension) within what the factory equipment allows, but you can not replace any parts. I figure it'd also be legit to remove some parts (the back seat and stereo, for example).

Cutting the horsepower in half should lower the speed significantly.

Well, this just sounds like the kind of stuff you can see at your local drag strip.

If Nascar was a series of stripped down production cars with just safety modifications, you wouldnt have to be wealthy to have a team and compete. They cant have it to where any Joe Shmo can run a team etc. It would be to far backwards from the mega $ expenses they've made it cost to participate.
Its bread and butter for fans though. You need real cars from manufactures out their on the track. Thats what the sport should be about.

Is it just me or is NASCAR's major problem these days that Auto Manufacturers have finally realized that the cars in this series have less in common with the product on the street than any other auto racing product in the world? At least Formula 1 engines run modern electronics, fuel injection, etc. that can one day be "theoretically" incorporated into a real production vehicle-I don't believe the carbeurated V8 is going to make a comeback.

KONI Challenge Series...

Mustangs racing porches and BMW's...

you won't see much better than that in the US.

Looks basically like the COT with rear wing and a Challenger nose grafted on. Which means the Mustang would look exactly alike but instead would have a Mustang nose grafted on. Thank God GM isn't committing the Camaro to the same abuse.
