Pontiac Canada now has a 2006 Pursuit coupe, based off the cobalt of course. The coupe differentiates itself from the cobalt a bit more than the sedan does. The pursuit coupe doesn't have the round tail lights of the cobalt coupe. Here's a couple of pics:

I'm glad it has different tail lights than the Cobalt coupe. One thing I wish the Cobalt SS sedan had was the 4 round tails.

Not exactly what I had in mind when I hear the name "Pursuit".... Also, that couple looks like a Mercury Cougar of a couple years ago.

 

GM should change their advertising for Pontiac to be something along of the lines of

"Pontiac: GM's Mercury"

Thats all the future seems to hold for them.

 

If I was in the market for that kind of car and they offered the s/c ecotec in the pontiac, I would take the Pursuit over the Cobalt definitely.

I think what you'll see is most camaro owners liking the cobalt better, its looks etc... just like how they think their chevy camaro looks better than its "mercury" trans am brother.

wait, does canada get the Cobalt AND the Pursuit? if it just gets the Pontiac, then this is just fine, but if you guys get BOTH, then I see no point. I'm glad they aren't doing that here in the US...

Canada does have both the cobalt and the pursuit. But there is a good reason. If you look at new cars bought in Canada vs. the U.S., there is a much higher percentage of small cars bought in Canada. Here is a list of the top 7 cars sold last year in Canada:

1. honda civic
2. toyota corolla
3. mazda 3
4. pontiac sunfire
5. toyota echo
6. chevrolet cavalier
7. ford focus

Over the past few years, the sunfire and cavalier have sometimes both been in the top 3.

So the pontiac dealerships in Canada would naturally be upset if GM cancelled their best seller and offered no replacement.

 

So I'm guessing the Pursuit won't be found stateside. Is Pontiac only really gonna have 4 cars I wonder? Seems like they should have one more maybe...

then again, when you think that they share the dealership with GMC and Buick, it doesn't seem all that unlikely.

 

Looks better than the cobalt I think. If it was supercharged I would definatley take it over the cobalt SS.

 

it has a different grill insert and tailights( coupe only) and you say it looks better? i think they look alike.
