HIDs, I think it'd be pretty cool as an option

As for LED taillamps, hmm...depends on how well it flows with the design of the car.

Re: Poll of the week: Should the 5th gen get HID?

Hate HID love LED tail lights.

And when I say I hate HID Im referring to the maddening blindness that insues when one rounds the corner on a rural road somewhere and is blinded by oncoming traffic with HID lights. Even on low those things hurt my eyes. Its worse in rural areas because there are no side street lights to help filter out HID lighting from cars, so you get a full dose of blindness.

Also, I hate when somone in HID equipped car decides its time to tailgate at night and not pass and they keep positioning themselves with their lights in your mirrors, reflecting into your vehicle. Not only do they blind you from the front, they blind your from behind as well.

Leave HID to the imports and high end luxury cars. The fewer cars they are on the better IMHO.

lol i think it took me 5 times to realize it was HID and not HUD like the other poll.. lol..

anyways i have mixed feelins on HID's. they blind other drivers which is really annoying. but they light the road like freaking day. i think it could be an option but have normal lights be really good.

I think small details like the type of headlights or taillights on an as-yet-to-be confirmed next Camaro are a little bit irrelevant simply because its way too premature. I'm sure they'll put the best lights in the car they can afford to at the Camaro price point. That's an accurate and realistic statement.

So the answer is we'll get whatever we get.

If the light projection is as bad as in the 4th gen F-bodies , by all means please use HID . Its almost common now in cars right down to a Ford Focus ( up till the latest redesign anyways ) No opinion on the taillights , as long as it looks like they should be on a Camaro , and there not those stupid altezza's , Im happy .

Voted yes on the HID . Ive driven cars with them , and I can't say I have ever been blinded by an oncomming car that came with HID from the factory . The fake blue bulbs are what blind you .

Re: Poll of the week: Should the 5th gen get HID?

Every time I'm driving at night and encounter a car with HID, I feel the uncontrollable urge to take a bat to their headlights for blinding me. But, when they "accidently" position themselves so their headlights are shining into my side mirrors, I just reposition my mirror so it's reflected straight back into their eyes. Usually they get the picture. Kinda off topic but funny story, one time I did it and the guy flashed his brights... lmao it was great cause it all went straight back into his eyes. HID work good at night for the person driving WITH the HID, but to all the other drivers on the road... neh. Just use some high quality bulbs. Heck, silverstars are a huge improvement compared to the stock sealed beams.

Actually the lights in the 98-02 cars are quite good. I think HID would be a great option

Absolutely, I think that machine of Camaro caliber has to have them - voted YES on HID and LEDs.

Plus, to prove my point I have custom fitted Hella HID (OEM on AUDI 6) low beam projectors on my car (in fog lights openings so i can keep stock halogens in their place).
Driving with them (compared to halogen only) is like day and night, really, you need to see more than 40 meters infront of you if you intend to do some speed at night on a highway.

Yes, I would agree that some are offended when they keep leftmost lane on a highway doing the speed limit. When i downshift and floor it - front of the car jumps just enough to enlight the interior of the car in front for a brief moment. Usually even from far away they move over.

Just to clarify the situation in this case - they (HIDs) are sitting low in fog lights openings so when I am really close they project too low to enter other car interior (in front). So even if they do not move over and i am following close enough constant blinding is out of question (too low).

Definitely, I will not buy another car without them factory installed.

For curious minds here is my 2001 with installed Audi OEM HIDs.

So, is there anyone else to report HID projectors retrofit project on the F-body?

Re: Poll of the week: Should the 5th gen get HID?

I thought this was another HUD threat at first glance, lol.

Although I personally cant see shat when I meet a car with them, I think it should be on the option list right beside HUD and tens of others. And not wadded up in a big package either. Split them up a little more than the previous Camaros.
