I've heard some people say it was a safety issue, but the story I read that had the most detail (and is therefore the most believable IMO) says that Bill Mitchell and Zora Arkus-Duntov fought over its inclusion -- Bill wanted it, Zora didn't. Zora let Bill have his way in '63, but put his foot down in '64 because it sucks to have a big thing blocking the middle of your view out the back of the car.

 

I could see that for some people, but that has nothing to do with why I think it is cool.

 

Mitchell wanted it, Duntov hated it. Ultimately Zora won! And the C6 is awesome, and doesn't need replacing just yet IMO.

 

I would think that this concept has some major design elements that will make it into the C7 since it would make absolute no sense for GM to put a Vette concept into such a huge global movie brand like Transformers and not hint of the next-gen Vette.

 

An interior makeover would be nice. Every time I read a review of the Corvette, the reviewer bitches about the interior.
