Peter Brock killed in racing accident.

I'm sure 95% of you are scratching your heads on this one.

Peter Brock was to Australia racing what perhaps Caroll Shelby was to American raceing history. The guy not only had a long racing career, he also had heavy influence on Holden's production performance cars in the 1980s, and indirectly caused the creation of HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) when Holden had a falling out with him.

I was going to post this in the lounge (much as I "like" it in there), but I realized there would probally be a greater percentage of people who'd appreiciate it here, not just our Aussie friends either.

Re: Peter Brock killed in racing accident.

"Peter Perfect".... he will be missed. Australian legend. I don't think anyone will match his exploits, particularly at Mt. Panorama AKA Bathurst and Sandown's track..

Brock in a Holden... most here just don't know how magic that combo was.

What is very coincidental is, AFAIK, the Aussie Legend Peter Brock was in a sort of replicar version of Shelby American's Cobra Daytona coupe when he died. The original Daytona Cobra exterior was designed by former GM engineer Peter Brock... no relation.

Very odd coincidence. Got another one almost as odd.

Outside of their obvious differences in age , Brock's & Steve Irwin's birthdays (Feb 26 vs 22) are 4 days apart.... and they died 4 days apart in the same order (Today, the 8th for Brock, and last Monday the 4th for Steve)

Re: Peter Brock killed in racing accident.

there's another odd coincidence

peter brock died driving a replica of the Shelby Daytona.

The original Shelby Daytona was the brainchild of your very own racer-car guy, Pete Brock.

and the two men were friends.
