A peek at the next Ford Ranger

A new show truck from Ford of Bankok, Thialand. Since we are supposed to get the next Ranger from this plant it would only make sense that this will look like our next Ranger.

I thought the Ranger was dead, and it was going to be the F100 now? Or is that just a rename?

The F100 was going to be Dakota sized, but was put on hold when gas hit $4/gal, and Ford decided to continue with the new Ranger. And now that its out, fuel is down to $1.59/gal.

Oh ok, I haven't really followed it that closely with everything else that has been going on regarding the Big 2.8

wow.. Igotta say..nice truck..to bad on a few things..the F100 is gone when it could be a nice fill in to the larger F150..the Ranger though being nice was designed and now will be built NOT IN THE U.S.!!

And to the U.S. car designers WHY CANT YOU JUST MAKE CARS LIKE THIS??? HELLO!!
I feel that American design studio's have lost thier idea of being flashy and in your face to bland and trying to be like toyota and the jellybean shape of thier boring cars..

The new Ranger is going to be designed and built in Thailand? So much for buying American.

I sat in a 2009 Ranger at the car show and wanted to laugh or cry or something but just couldn't... shook my head, and walked away.

That truck is amazingly outdated. In fact now that the town car/crown vic/MGM are out of the lineup it's by far their oldest outdated product... heck maybe it was before then.

GM's Colorado/Canyon are getting pretty long in the tooth as well.

The Dakota, despite having fairly regular restylings is far behind because the cheap materials used for the interior and the seemingly lack of time spent on the designs when compared to the attention to styling details that's gone into the Ram almost on a continuous basis.

The Ranger is going to be striking in appearence. If it's made in Thailand, there's going to be a lot more costing room to put more value and great interial materials compared to other small trucks from Japan (which seems to have gotten decidedly cheap over the past decade).

If you worry about buying an American small pickup, then your only choice is Dakota. Like Nissan & Toyota, the Colorado/Canyon was designed and engineered mainly in Japan (by Isuzu).

No wonder those trucks suck so much.

The skids were greased for this a couple of years ago, when tariffs on truck imports from Thailand were lifted. The Big 3 might normally suck when it comes to buying influence in Washington, but this represents a successful attempt at the practice.

I love how the new standard response for commenting on any new pickup truck is "looks like a <insert appropriate Toyota truck model name here>".

It's pretty obvious that it borrows heavily from the Tacoma. I don't recall ever saying a truck looks like any other truck. As far as all the ones currently on the market go, I think they look quite a bit different from eachother.

It looks like a drunken, angry cartoon character. This isn't serious, is it?
