P*ssed off at the Oldsmobile comercials.

Yeah, I know that the GM marketing philosophy in 2002 is way different than it was 4 or 5 or 6 years ago, but the agressive Olds advertising campaign, when everyone KNOWS the brand is dead, annoys the hell out of me.

Long before the death of the F-body was a done deal, they stopped advertising. Now, WELL AFTER the death of Olds is a done deal, they are advertising the hell out of them.

I just feel kinda cheated.

(Yes, this IS about "future vehicles." It's about the 2003 and 2004 Camaros and Olsmobiles that won't exist.)

You know, the almighty Alero will be the final Oldsmobile to end its 100 year legacy.

I can see it now...

In a few months their commericals are going to be like:

"Dozens of people continue to buy Oldsmobiles. That's because we continue to make dozens of Oldsmobiles."

"Your father continues to buy Oldsmobiles. That's because we continue to make your father's Oldsmobiles."

"Three people bought Oldsmobiles last week. That's because we made three oldsmobiles last week."

"The reason you see so many Oldsmobiles on the road is because you are delusional. Millions of dillusionals continue to think they are buying Oldsmobiles."

"Dozens of people continue shopping for new Oldsmobiles. If you see them, tell them we're closed."

I like that. Maybe one day we will see this: Those responsible for sacking Olds, have themselves, been sacked.

Is that correct? I thought I'd read that the Bravada, ironically, would be the last Olds as it is the newest platform ...

Car wise anyways, it's the Aurora (now just 4.0) and Alero this year with just Alero next year. Are they still talking about rebadging the Alero as a Chevy after Olds is gone?

I think they just took all the ribbing off the GA so it looks like the alero.

2004 will be the last.

The Intrigue ceased production in 2002, as did the 3.5 Aurora.

2003 will bring the phase out of the Aurora 4.0 for sure, and maybe the Bravada.

2004 ends it all with the Silhouette, and Alero ending.

It will be a sad day indeed.

I just saw my 1st 2003 Grand Am yesterday. I was thinking the same thing.
