Ontario considering blocking Kia, Hyundai sales?
Ontario considering blocking Kia, Hyundai sales?
It'd be nice to see that sort of approach taken in the US, but we have too many influential people who have been made rich by importing cheap goods from low-cost markets for such a thing to ever happen
HAHAHAHAHAH!
I didn't know Canada was a part of GM, Dodge, and Ford.
I don't think Canada can do much about it, nor can S. Korea. If the cars don't sell, then the dealers there won't import them. The country of S. Korea has no control over the market as you may think from this article.
If 100 cars were imported, how many were for dealers and not private citizens?
If Canada does bar Hyundai and Kia, they may as well relook their European counterparts.
It's a silly idea to ban a company from selling it's product in your country, because products you build for a company don't sell well there.
I see this as more of a push from GM/Ford/Dodge execs pressuring Canada, afterall, Canada has alot of jobs invested for them, if thos eplants closed alot of people would be out of a job.

If the government chooses to put a heavy tarriff on imported cars then, yes, they do have an influence in the market. A heavy influence.
Such as with the supposed case of GM and Japan? I didn't look at any evidence ofr that case, but a global trade market allows one to do things their way no matter how mean spirited it may be, and in response, others may do something else.
So it's either S. Korea, or it's the cars. Either way, we'll get to the bottom of this.

In todays world its hard to say what comes from where.
