Post And one other thing not realized about the GTO..

Delorean ripped the name off from Ferrari To the Europeans calling a Pontiac a GTO in 1964 would be like calling an Altima a Diablo today. In some peoples eyes I am willing to bet that they think no Pontiac is worthy of the GTO name...much less the new one

But I love the new GTO so I really don't care. Just pointing out a little something for all the new found GTO experts

What GTO stands for is more of a description than an actual name. Theoretically it could be slapped onto any car that qualifies. It's a good thing such a cool name was right not to be limited to a measly 40 cars made by Ferrari How many europeans are honestly familiar with the Ferrari GTO? It's so rare, only the hardcore followers have ever heard of it. There was a car in 1984 called the "288 GTO" by Ferrari. Many people claim this is the most beautiful looking body Ferrari has put out, ever. It's basically a 308 from the same era, but longer wheelbase, different tail spoiler, side fins like the original GTO, and a few other things. Looks sharp

Either way, Pontiac's version has orders of magnitude more followers than Ferrari's ever had. Hopefully the number will grow with this new one.
