Ok, who's buying a 2006+ Z06???
Ok, who's buying a 2006+ Z06???
I had to ask the question. With all the chest puffing going on in the other thread............... lets hear the real skinny.
Who, in here, has plans to plunk down their $65-72K???
This is a cut the BS thread. We can all admire cars that we have no hope in owning.............. so all those with the bread, who think this is the deal of the century............. lets hear your thoughts.

Re: Ok, who's buying a 2006+ Z06???
I was planning on buying one within a 1-2 year period... I am one who understands the price, but think it might be a touch too high.
This may push me in a different direction with that money (65-67 big block Corvette, possible a 68-72 big block Corvette... would consider a fuel injected 63-65 Corvette........)

Re: Ok, who's buying a 2006+ Z06???
Seeing as how I just graduated with my MBA a month ago and am still rebuilding my house, it seems a little high for me
I will stare at them when I plunk down my down payment on my '06 MC SS next spring though. I can barely afford that car, let alone the Z06
And Darth, if you're having a kid? With all due respect, kiss the Z06 goodbye me thinks

Also, you will not have to live with the stigma that you only bought that new
Vette because you are having your midlife crissis. LOL

Darth,
Ashleigh and I have had long talks on the matter of vehicles and the future. At this point, she is willing to commit to using her car (whatever it may be down the road...Torrent or 4 door G6 will be next I think) as the family hauler and let me continue my quest for fast 2 doors. As she put it, "it wouldn't be you if it isn't a bad *** coupe or sports car. Plus, I wouldn't want to live with you if you had to drive a sedan...you'd be too angry to deal with!"
Logic like that is why she's my fiance
That, and the fact that she read the article in Playboy last month about oil viscosity, and what it means

I love both....
I would almost certainly enjoy driving new new Z06 more... plus, there's nothing like being the original owner. I'd also like to experience the Museum Delivery at some point...
Buying new, I'd always know EVERYTHING about the car, etc etc etc
But.... the classics have a ton of advantages, not least the fact that they actually appreciate in value.
My father-in-law is a Corvette restorer... he and his partner have a 23 for 24 record with cars they have done attaining GOLD status from Bloomington Gold... the odd one won Silver, and that is only because the owner (incorrectly) changed a few item after they finished it.

I will . . . when it's available in a convertible.
Both my 66 and 69 are convertibles and have the top engine available for their year (nonwithstanding L89/L88). I don't see why it has to be different today.
Yes, I know, it makes no sense, this is a go-fast car, whatever.

Gloria-
This is the 5th gen forum. Most of us are looking for a sub-$30K, rwd, v8 powered ride. Why would you ask us if we are buying the Chevy halo car premium edition? For those that can afford it, it is the best performance car bargain on the planet.
Although a $39K 450HP Shelby stang is very tempting to me.
Cheers,

The car is amazing. All the Corvette race team drivers that I've spoken to which were involved in testing and evaluation of the C6 Z06 are VERY impressed with the car and it's abilities.
I likely buy in '07 as I seriously doubt dealer will be stocking modestly equipped Z06's. I could car less about the sound system, I dislike chrome wheels, am capable of reading a map and finding my way around. Bling bling extra cost paint doesn't do it for me.. thus a second year special order will be the probable route I'll go.

instead I'll be going with a CTS, Camaro, or GTO in the later part of this decade. I'd even consider a used Z51 C6 too.
