OK, How is Chrysler possibly doing this???!!
I've never seen the factory, and know nothing about it. But Chrysler's Brampton plant typically made a total of up to 150,000 Chrysler 300Ms, LHS, and Intrepids on a good year.
Today, the same plant is not only pumping out 160,000+ Chrysler 300s..alone , but it's also churning out around 60,000 Dodge Magnums, 70-80,000 Dodge Chargers, with 3 shifts and overtime. And now it's adding something like 20,000 Dodge Challengers!
All together that's over twice (310,000+) what the plant was making during the good years of the 90s.
Even without the Challenger, the plant is currently making nearly 300,000 vehicles per year. I know Ford's River Rouge plant managed to streach to make over 230,000 Mustangs in 2000 (typically 120-150K), but seems Brampton would be far beyond the limits of just efficiency.
What gives? How is this possible??

I guess Germans know how to get their workers to be efficient?
You figure they probably replaced the equiptment in the last 15 years or at least updated it. That with overtime for workers probably can account for most of the extra production.
As much as I like GM, I hope Chrysler is rewarded for their work. The have a huge line of performance cars (which we obviously like) And they were the ones willing to take risks, placing 20 inch wheels on trucks, and taking the initiative with the agressive 300c styling.
Just go to http://www.drivesrt.com/ and check out all the performance packages they are offering.
They also have a ton of sticker packages like the rumble bee, and daytona.
I just checked their site and found they have a new TRX-4 truck package.
And you know its only a matter of time before they do an srt dakota. Which, knowing dcx, will probably be on the scale of the old Syclone.

I know from my plant, they began streamlining the Assembly Lines to sustain faster line speeds...ergonomics, better engineered tooling, better engineered vehicles/parts...all make it easier and faster to assemble with better quality.
Something specific to Brampton.......?????

I have a buddy that works there.....I will ask him.
That sure sounds like a lot of cars though. He did tell me that they were working overtime (even some sundays) for a long time now.
I wish things were that good in GM Oshawa.

cocaine
Have they expanded the factory at all since the 300m days? im sure its much more effecient in terms of producing each individual car than before. Maybe thyre going to do things to make it more effecient. I know toyota is constantly trying to find ways to make everything more effecient in their business, especially in factories and it (obviously) works wll for them.

I'm sure to some extent there is an efficiency cost in pushing the plant that hard. They've got a the demand, so they are probably "throwing everything at it" to produce as many cars as they can, efficiency be damned.
