Or was it dealer mistakes in the paper work? A Buick GNX?....No way, must be a paper work error, the car was probably just and Regal or maybe a GN clone? Same goes for the 20th Anniversay Trans Am.

Totaled cars that had engines and transmission that still worked fine. Why else would there be 3 GMC Acadias on there. Even if they had 300,000mi. on them each they would be worth more than $4500

Seeing as how the rules stipulated that every C4C trade in had to be continuously insured by the same owner for at least 1 year, I don't see how a totaled car would qualify.

In this day and age how hard is it to believe that there are probably indeed some very stupid people (and dealers) out there that would "clunk" a GNX or an Aston Martin? Seriously....

SVT Lightnings are routinely $10k or more on the market - dpending on condition. $5k is an uber-steal for one.

Stupid is as stupid does, sir.

MOST happy to see 5000+ Benzes traded-in. Wish there had been more Asian vehicles, but I guess they all are worth more than $4500 or all get 40+ mpg and last forever, huh?

The list said AMC Eagles. Were those even built in 1985 or later? Because if they weren't, then they couldn't be traded in as they would have been too old.

Because you can buy them back from the insurance company. They might still be drivable then you could trade them in under C4C.

Are there special requirements for my trade-in vehicle?

YES. Your trade-in vehicle must:
  • have been manufactured less than 25 years before the date you trade it in and, in the case of a category 3 vehicle, must also have been manufactured not later than model year 2001
  • have a "new" combined city/highway fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon or less
  • be in drivable condition
  • be continuously insured and registered to the same owner for the full year preceding the trade-in
http://www.cars.gov/faq#category-02

I guess it depends on what the dealer accepted as "drivable".

P.S. Salvaged titles were also allowed.

Yea, but no dealer would give 'em the rebate if they could sell it for more than that themselves. They'd just give 'em the cash.

I call BS on the 1997 Bentley Continental R. New one was over $300k
The used one today go for over $110k-$140K.
Engine alone is over $30K, single seat is $5k etc.
