I really wish those that haven't experienced the new GTO would go look at one, sit in the car, take a ride in one, or if the dealer will let them, test drive it.

If that doesn't convince you, then that is perfectly fine. Some still won't be swayed, and if you're still not convinced, then bash the new GTO all you'd like (But use facts, and do so constructively). It seems like 99.9% of people that talk crap about the new GTO haven't done one of those things mentioned above. They seems to know nothing about the new car, and probably not much more than that about the original GTO.

So true, anyone that has taken a drive in the car loves it. Even with the first year motor the car was still special. It had power, handled great, comfortable and fun to drive. What killed me were the so-called "GTO purists" who said it couldn't be a GTO cause of their so called bland styling, lack of hood scoops (the first year) and their idea of "dual" exhaust. Utter crap, the orginal Goat is plain-jane car with what being under the hood making it special. Most cars that have hood scoops today don't actually use them and the new Goat had true dual exhaust.

The new GTO will go down as one of the most under-rated and under-appreciated cars ever.

Re: No more GTO?

I've heard that the GTO is official dead after the '06 model. But I've also heard that it will return in '08 with a new retro design.

So which is it.

While the current GTO is a fairly generic looking Pontiac. It out performs the most original('64-'73) GTOs, in near ever way. So it was truely worthy of the name. It sad that it didn't sale better.

The G8/Grand Prix is still very much alive. As is the RWD/Performance theme for future Pontiacs

And I've heard rumours that a new Firebird (without the T/A) may return in '09.
