STi's are a mid to low 13 second @ 102-103 mph car, at best. It would take a near miracle to get one in the high 12's. You can tell that their good e.t.'s are all in the launch when you look how slow their trap speed is relative to the e.t.

beg to differ on that one....watched a stock STi run a 12.96 at englishtown on wed. night. and the EVO with a good driver is a bit faster down the track than an STi is......you'd be surprised what they run.

I still have never seen a stock Evo trap as high as a stock STi. With an equal launch, I don't see how the Evo could be faster.

why doesnt GM get more grasp on Suburu? 30% why not boost shares in Fuji?

I mean, the Company is definatly doing well, at least here, and has a very good relationship with Consumer Reports... why not boost it to 50% or more? This would be much better then Fiat... Even Saab was a poor choice but, Saab is starting to look up, but it has come a long way since GM purchased it.

I was under the impression it was quite the contrary, the Evos were in the really high 12's where as the STi's were in the low 13's and that the Evos were quicker, now top speeds or trap speeds are different story, and I dont know, but this is what I was under the impression

How do you know it was stock. Do you know the guy?

I've yet to see anything close to a high 12 second STOCK STi or EVO. Even with a 1.6 60' time, they run low 13's. Saying that a STi is a 12 second car is way off from the norm. It takes a good driver just to get into the low 13's.

The STi's and EVO's are way overhyped, but that's just my opinion. They are great track cars, and are pretty quick, don't get me wrong, but almost all of their e.t. comes from the launch, and not the actual power output of the engine. They only put down about 240 awhp.

Sorry if this is getting off topic.

Re: Next Gen WRX STI? Question? GM involvement?

My bad runs in my STI are 105-106 mph with a bad 60 foot. My good times are 102-103. My best run is 13.22 @ 102 and change. This is in Texas in a 95 plus degree day with a car that only has 3000 miles. in a few months with 75 degree weather and a more broken in motor It should go high high 12s.

Evos are geared better for drag racing but I walk them from a roll at 40 or above. A Lt1 camaro really isnt a match for these cars. I love the car. Its smaller than my Camaro but is 4 doors and pretty roomy. Its great for my time in Chicago as well. They are great every day cars.

Doesn't make any sense that your trap speed would change that much, plus that would be a record trap speed for a bone stock STi anyway. Why is your best run at a much slower trap speed? Doesn't make any sense. The 102 trap I can believe on a bone stock STi. I've had big swings in my 60' times (0.5 sec +) and my trap speeds never varied more than 0.8 mph.

Any work/tuning done to the car?

Re: Next Gen WRX STI? Question? GM involvement?

the Sti is a 300 hp car it has a 22 % loss in the drivline and it is a heavy car they dont run 12s stock they also drink oil and spin rod bearings
I work for a dealer and subaru has a lot of problems to work out with thier
engines such as head gaskets.excessive piston slap and cylinder wall scuffing
spining rod bearings low compression in number 2 and 4 cylinders
oil leaks. Im not bashing subaru however I call a spada a spade

Or he could live at a high elevation where there is not as much air to pull into the engine.

Try racing one in bad weather...

Why the obsession with the STi quarter mile time? The car isn't exactly designed for drag racing.
