Next Gen WRX STI? Question? GM involvement?

It seems that GM foot some of the bill for the B9 Tribeca platform. Any word if they will be doing the same for The next Impreza WRX and STI? What GM products will be using the B9 as a base? My guess is Saab.

Onto my original question. Since GM is taking a larger intrest in what Subaru does. I was wondering if any of you guys in the know have any info on the next WRX and STI models. I have seen rumors of a Legacy based hatchback. Seems that a hatch design is best suited for rally racing. Any info?

I have been wondering why GM doesn't try and get more involved with Subaru. They have some of the best AWD setups in cars. That would make a little sense in trying to develope a better performing sedan or coupe. The Cobalt SS would be great if they had the AWD option.

Yeah, I always wondered that myself but then if they did incorporate AWD onto the Cobalt, how much more would that jack the price up then?

Yeah, but think about it, add the supercharged engine and such a car would be the domestic equivalent of a Skyline or Eclipse. I'd gladly pay 27-28K for such a vehicle.

I would be willing to fork out that much money for an AWD Cobalt as well, but they would have to bump up the hp a little to satisfy my guilt for blowing almost 30K.

a Dodge Evo vs a Chevy STi would be interesting. I wonder how many domestic guys will take to these once they put a chevy/dodge badge on them

Come on people complain about the Cobalt's price now. Imagine what you would hear if it were $4,000-$5,000 more.

I guess that sums it all up, I always thought the STIs were slightly faster than the EVOs. Guess not. What are the avg. times that both cars pull in the quarter? People tell me they run anywhere from high 12s stock to high 13s. Just wondering what the "official" times are.

Hey I would still rather have the STI. It is so much better looking and sounding. I love that blue color also.

I have heard of a few STis in the high 12s stock. I have never heard of any Evos in the 12s stock. Any STi I have seen run always traps higher than any Evo I have seen run as well, by a few mph. I would put large somes of money that with identical drivers the STi is going to get across the line faster than an Evo. I bet an Evo can get the warranty office faster though; there are plenty of Evo owners that have had alot of practice with failing clutchs. Give me the rock solid tranny/transfer case of the STi anyday.

Does anyone know what the top speed of the Evo is? I know the STi is governed at 147mph, but I wonder what it would run to if the governer was removed.
