New Vauxhall Monaro VXR

Note in this article that the 2004 version sold out!

If GM had planned to sell 6000 GTOs, it would have been declared a success instead of a failure. Regardless of how many they end up selling this calendar year, it's a safe bet that a high percentage of the sales were to people who would not have bought any other GM product.

Looks like a lot of unnecessary body cladding going on....kind of tacky.

I think that car looks great. The kit and larger wheels gives it a lower, more aggressive look IMO.

Re: New Vauxhall Monaro VXR

As a Brit, it doesn't surprise me that it sold out right away. Yeah people here rip on the GTO for it's grand-am styling, but it's not a bad looking car IMO; by UK styling standards for an "affordable" performance car, it's positively aggressive. Esp. compared to all the crappy 4 banger, 1.8L, FWD econoboxes that tend to pass for 'performance' cars over there (with petrol at alomst $5 a galon, kind of understandable, bad depressing).

Echo that. All I see on mine is the scuff strip and the rocker panel extensions. Hardly what I'd call cladding.

Re: New Vauxhall Monaro VXR

yeah...but you know what? You know how much the VX-R Monaro costs in American dollars?
$65K....and it has the same engine that our GTO does. Yet, here its overpriced, and whatever else you wana put in here.

Re: New Vauxhall Monaro VXR

You know what the smart move by GM was? Calling it Vauxhall Monaro. Seems they learned from GTO.

I don't know how anyone can complain about the price of $25 - $30K GTO.
