the new muscle car?
the new muscle car?
just watching speed channel and heard a comment about the new dodge charger being what muscle cars have evolved into. they said most people today that are in the market for a muscle car are looking for a powerful, 4 DOOR car. does anyone else think this might be the "trend" to follow retro in the future?
Re: the new muscle car?
No I do not agree.
2door hatches own!
I'm gonna rebuild this LT1 and keep drivin' it til they come out with a new camaro/firebird or gas prices get so ridiculous I can't keep her on the road.

Re: the new muscle car?
The Last muscle car was the 1987 Buick Grand National IMHO. All other cars today are built to do more than go in a straight line. Seems that any fast car these days is being called a muscle car.
Re: the new muscle car?
another thing that got my attention on the show was the fact they threw in the E55 Mercedes and refered to it along the lines of a muscle car. i gotta a funny feeling this might get weird.
Re: the new muscle car?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4-DOOR Muscle Cars.........
I hate the charger, they better not F- the camaro, firebird, and trans am up like dodge did the charger.....ford is on the right track
hate to say it, i never been a ford fan but they are smart, going back to the 67 style look and KEEPIN IT 2 DOOR.........I would be happy if the new gen camaro or firebird looked like the GTO even...WHY 4 DOOR....wait a second i know why, too many family men out there with controling wifes.....i got a baby and a wife, but i still got the 2 door bird..it may not be easy to put a car seat in or a comfortable ride, but these cars werent made for the family, they were made for the power hungry.
i have no idea what i typed....so if you understand it kudos to you!
Re: the new muscle car?
4 door sedans are already the trend in the rest of the automotive world. I sure hope that this trend dies before it infests our market. Muscle cars should not have 4 doors!!!!!
Re: the new muscle car?
IMO, i think the muscle "sedans" are popular for the simple fact alot of ppl aren't able to have a weekend toy. i'm 25 and alot of ppl i went to high school with have families now. when you're that age, it's hard to justify having 3 cars(you, wife, and a weekend toy). around where i live, all i used to see were accords lowered with an exhaust, body kit, etc. it served the purpose of a family sedan that had lots of aftermarket availability, so i can see why some ppl are making the jump to the charger, 300c and so on, but to say these are the new muscle cars is a bit much. the only thing i would refer to as muscle car on the road today is the GTO, which is out of most ppls price range(at least in my age group).

The GN wa not built to just go in a straight line. It was built to go in a straight line and be comfortable. Thats mr then one thing
Re: the new muscle car?
There is no rule anywhere that EVER said muscle cars were coupes. The only quasi rule I ever heard is they had to have a 350ci engine. I think you are confusing pony with muscle. While a pony car can be a muscle car, the oppisite does NOT have to be true. There is nothing wrong at all with a charger like car. I love it personally and may even own one.

I need a 4 door car to fit my infant and toddler in the back seat. Yet most of the 4 door cars I see around town don't have a baby seat in the back and I typically see one passenger. Most folks that I know that SERIOUSLY buy a car because of family concerns buy SUVs or a minivan. I think if you MAKE a sporty car with a usable backseat and it's two doors...I honestly think folks will buy it. The beginner family usually probably won't experience (pain in the butt to get in and out of syndrome until the kids get older. I mean for a 4-5 year old...it's not hard for them to get out of a back seat.
Hell I just wish more companies would go with the old suicide half doors if they MUST put 4 doors on a sporty car. It works very well on the RX-8.
