New Malibu doesn't suck

They had a new malibu along with an SSR at the chevy dealership so decided to take a look. I have to admit that I had low expectations for this car. I sat in a new Grand Prix a couple months ago and it felt like classic GM crap. To my surprise, the malibu is pretty swanky inside. It's leaps and bounds ahead of the alero I used to have. The biggest thing I noticed was the materials used. It passed the "close your eyes and let your hands fall where they may" test. No cheesy plastic shenanagins. Everything you touch has a feel of quality. I'm genuinly impressed with this car.

The SSR was still on the car carrier so I didn't get to sit in it. Looked good though.

You thought the Grand Prix interior was crap?! I thought it was pretty good. Not exceptional, but alot better than any other non-CTS GM-NA car I sat in.

I'm sure the Malibu is a step up from where it was. The Impala I rented last week was actually pretty decent inside (material wise), and I'm certain GM is going to get much better as it's newer cars come out.

good stuff. car and driver's review of the malibu was overall pretty good. once the dealers in our area start getting them in, im gonna slide by and check it out.

also i too thought the new grand prix's interior was pretty good . if i had the cash, a 04 GTP would seriously be on my list of cars to check out.

Looking forward to checking it out when the auto show comes to down. (May also go to NAIAS!)

Only thing I don't like is that weird steering wheel...

It still needs alot of work in the styling dept. Is there going to be an SS model? If the Malibu shares the same platform as the G6 then that 285hp(?) motor in that car would make an excellent start for a Malibu SS.

I thought the new Grand Prix interior was very nice as well...

I thought the seats were some of the best I have sat in from first impression.

The only 'cheeesy' feeling part was a little plastic spin dial thinig (cant remember what it was for)... anyway, it felt like lightweight, hollow, dheap plastic... but it was the only piece that I felt that way about.

I haven't sat in a new Malibu yet... I suppose I'll make a trip to the local dealer...
