How about the 350Z and passion in the attention Nissan is giving the car with the advertising and support! They are declaring that they are behind this car that will only sell a few tens of thousands of units a year. That is passion that Nissan has for the 350Z that Chevy didn't have for the Camaro.

LT1 performance was the cool thing in the early 90s. The 350 Z is 10 years late. Oh, and it costs more 2. Um, no thanks Ill pass.

I don't understand.

Are you saying that no matter what attributes the 350Z has....if it can't take down an LS1 in the quarter mile...then it is not desirable?

I like the new Z and the commitment Nissan has put behind it. But I see the G35 as the new direction Camaro should take. In size, weight, price, & performance, the Infinity G35 is where the next Z28 should be......just subsitute a V8 inplace of the 4 cam 6.

It accelerates like an LT1, it handles like a C5 and it costs as much as a V8 4th gen F-car.
I want a car that seats 4, so the 350Z is out. Plus if I wanted LT1 performance I would just get a Mustang GT for many thousands less. and If I was in the market for a 2 seater I would rather spend $5K more and get a C5.

It looks like for us 4 seat, V8, RWD, GM fans that want a brand new car willhave to get a GTO or CTSv

Can't really disagree.

Of course in addition to a healthy, rip snorting V8 a "next Z/28" would also need to be quite abit edgier than the G35.

It seems as if competitors are effectively bracketing for GM what the next Camaro should be.

Cars like the G35 on one end and 5.4 liter BOSS engined (?) Mustangs on the other...throw in what Mopar, Mazda and Toyota might come up with and add a cost-no-object M3 into the equation and it's easy to see that a future Camaro....while needing to stay true to it's roots.....will need to be a much different animal than what we are used to.

And maybe that is for the best.
