New issue of GMHTP offers hope for 5th Gen!
I'lll beleive that when I get my 35th anniversary Camaro with an LS6.
In all honesty alot is done with the new Camaro...but GM's politcal climate will hold it till at least 07 at this point...unless it gets a serious money injection. That won't happen with all the cars inline for development funds first. Also keep in mind the mess with GM's pension fund, Fiat, and the UAW..they all effect development funds. The Camaro is very far down on the ladder from what I understand, behind RWD sedans and "other" projects.
It doen't matter how far a new Camaro is along if the big picture won't let it be made.
IMO getting out hopes up over every little word just makes reality a bigger letdown.

The last sentence of that article says "Make us fall in love again..."
and personally, I would rather see the Camaro stay in the underworld if it doesn't do just what Johnny boy said...
I don't know any insiders, I don't sleep w/ a suppliers wife, etc...I'm just an average consumer who likes fast cars...and the vibe I get from GM is that they really don't care much about the Camaro at this point in time. Simply from the lack of official anouncements...I read on this board quite often about a Camaro nearing completion, etc... We haven't even seen a concept, GM hasn't even stepped up to the plate and said "pucker up"
Give us something to look forward to, hell no! let us hear about the amazing new Cobra which can be turned into a Snake-skinner with bolt ons. Let us see the new 350Z commercials and wonder what passion for a car is like... Hear about the GM top dog Vette and the "security tighter than a nuclear missile silo" regarding the C6....
Honestly, I feel that the Camaro will not be able to live up to the competition as long as GM keeps feeding the Camaro team table scraps from the ybody.
eh...*shrug*....you can't always get what you want, right?

Scott and the Camaro Legends Tour were at M7 Oct 5th(Jason Debblers Michigan event)
After the dragracing was over it was time for the awards.
Scott gave a small speech about the future and said,"there is hope"
He also said any new Camaro would remain true to its V8 RWD heritage.
Scott cannot come right out and say they will build it as they are not allowed to talk about new car programs.
But this sounds like a done deal to me.

Nothing has gone out for quote to ANY of the supply base that I know of concerning an F-body replacement.
Zero.
Zip.
Nada.
In a "go fast" program, I've got about a two-year lead time for design and tooling for my components. So, if it got released for quote, figure two months for the quoting process and then tack on two years for "go-fast" timing. I can do it faster, but it costs more money.
Then tack on another 6 months for the PPAP, pilot and early production builds.
To compress the timing, spring as much as possible off of another platform, much like the first Camaro sprang from the Nova.

I'm pretty damn sure they will make another Camaro.
I'm just afraid of what abomination they come up with.
Look how they disgraced the name of the Impalla and Malibu.
And what the hell are they doing with the SSR?? Seriously underpowered for what you pay for it. You wanna charge that much then give us another 75-100hp.

I need more than "hope" from a bi-monthly mag that 12 whole people read. I need an offical statemnt from GM that it will be coming back and in what time frame. They have until next spring to let me know Or im a BLue oval guy
Because we have no official word from GM we grasp at straws. So maybe hope wasn't the perfect phraseology....
I was just posting something I thought was interesting.
BTW I think more than 12 people read GM High Tech Performance.

What is it with you people?? They don't make the car anymore and you are all going to F**d now?? And next year or as soon as possible no less. What, do you people buy new cars every year?? You guys must have great jobs. There is 4 Generations of F-Bodies out there, many still like new, but if the car is not right off of the dealers lot you will not touch it?? Yeah GM is stupid now and made a moronic mistake, but give them some time to fix it. Why go to F**d, just because they still make the M*****g?? Its still a M*****g, not a Camaro. You are willing to sell your Camaro for a new M*****g just because GM isn't making the Camaro right now?? That just doesn't make sense. Buy a different Gen F-Body if you aren't liking your current.

Rather, what most of us are miffed about is the fact that at times such as this, the GM doesn't look too bright in our considerations of future purchases...ie affordable performance.
I'm never going to sell my Formula.....it would be a huge financial loss not to mention a seemingly waste of time....
I wish I knew who posted it, heck it might even be on this thread.
"Brand loyalty goes both ways They have to make something I want to give them my business"
GM might not make anything I want in a new car that i am willing to afford and ford most likely will. So GM, are you reading this thread and tens of thousands of others on many many web sites?
