Just so happens, I have a timeslip from this last Friday from me racing the lightning at the strip. This is from Kansas City International Raceway. Forgot to add, the lightning owner just installed an icebox in his truck that did jack. But it was very humid out and the air was heavy, so that might be the factor.

here are the numbers:

R/T:.............. .861
60':.............. 1.827
330':............ 5.352
1/8:............. 8.284
MPH:............ 83.90
1000:.......... 10.836
1/4:............. 13.004
MPH:............ 103.50

The Syclone ran a little quicker than him, when my friend was still driving the Syclone, this was a few tenths slower. It's been in his garage all year getting the engine rebuilt. The lightning, I agree, should be running faster than what it is, but it just doesn't seem to get faster with any mod. Well, I take that back, the lightning ran a 13.9 the first night he ran it, so he's cut off a full second. When my friend and the lightning ran, they were both really close, I mean the Syclone would run something like 13.450 and the Lightning would run a 13.490. Those last numbers were not accurate, just what the difference was. But the Syclone would beat him, nontheless.

Your friend might want to get his tranny checked, I have heard of several that were slowing down due to tranny slipping issues (inperceptable to them). The truck should have a better MPH than that stock.

Tell him to look into one from Lentech. That one will not break.

the problem was that he ordered a valve body from some company, and they sent him the wrong one which completely screwed up his first tranny, so he got basically a new tranny, all new internals. That one had the supposedly right valve body in it, but I guess it still screwed up the tranny, so they bought him another new one. I think it's bretty stout now.

Ignorance. You think I'm lying. We have a video of it. If I can get a capture of it, which I probably can't, because I work too much, I'd be happy to prove you wrong. Don't believe me, won't hurt my feelings. I posted the times of the Lightning. I don't have a slip from the Syclone versus the Lightning when they were racing each other, so I can't post the times when they raced. The lightning DID lose to the syclone. That's all. And you don't really want to call a lightning with a chip, pulley and a few other various things "modded." Think before you speak.

How can you not call a L with those mods "modded"?????????
Depending on what pulley he uses its easily a 450hp machine.

What "state" did these trucks run?(doesnt really matter you posted the reason for the poopie times,The tranny)

Going back to the initial topic, it was pointed out that the record is for the fastest vehicle with a bed.

Now, that record is 147 mph. The new GTO will do 160, so the Monaro should reach 155. The Holden UTE is lighter than the Monaro, and has the same 302hp LS1.

Anyone think Holden should do a certified top speed run in an LS1 UTE?

What year is this Lightning? 1999? it sure is sounding like it.

Wait a tick.Someone is not giving the true facts here.A Lightning with the mod's "YOU" listed would even bring a 99 beyond 405HP?
Does he have an aftermarket exhaust?
