New Guinness World Record!!
John Coletti came up with a winner here! I'm sure he'll be razzing certain GM & Chrysler people over this.
Just think, we still have that really nice, and waaaay more expensive all weather Silverado SS extended cab pickup truck to be proud of.......right?

Guinness names Ford SVT Lightning "World's Fastest Production Pickup Truck"
By JOHN D. STOLL
Depending on who you trust, you can now officially call Ford’s SVT F-150 Lightning the fastest production vehicle that comes with a bed.
Guinness World Records Ltd. certified the Lightning as "World's Fastest Production Pickup Truck" after running a production-level vehicle to 147 mph at Ford’s Michigan Proving Grounds five-mile-long oval test track. An SVT press release said the record was achieved over one kilometer worth of pavement and the speed is derived from an average of speeds recorded in both directions.
To meet the vehicle requirements, SVT officials folded in the side mirrors and removed the radio antenna of a stock 380-hp, 450-lb-ft Lightning. Clockwise, the fastest elapsed time was 17.03 seconds, or 147.974 mph. Counter-clockwise, the fastest elapsed time was 17.09 seconds, or 147.454 mph. The average of those two runs is 147.714 mph.
Ford’s claimed 0-to-60 mph time is 5.2 seconds.

Bah, a Holden SS Ute or HSV Maloo can go faster than that
Edit: BTW, it is rumoured that HSV will be increasing base power to 285kw in a month or 2 and will still be using the LS1. No one knows what they have done to bring it up to that power level, maybe the GTO engine?

Let me first say....that if I were in the market for a truck ...the regular cab, 6 speed, Silverado SS, that was at SEMA, would be the one I'd be interested in.
But with that said...the "new" SS strategy seems pretty apparent to me. It's not necessarilly to be the fastest vehicle in it's segment. No sir. It's to create the image that sells high content vehicles for a high profit, at high volumes.
This....the Silverado SS does perfectly.

The GTO part is interesting. 285kw would be around 380hp right?
guion has stated over and over that the SS UTE would already be state-side had it not been subject to the high fees for importing a truck. To me and you, its not a truck, but techincally it is.

One of my friends has a '02 lightning, another one of my friends has a '91 Syclone. They've both raced about 15-20 times against each other at the local track. The syclone edges him every time. And the syclone is stock and the lightning has a pulley, aftermarket CAI, and chip on slicks. Still gets beat by the syclone.

I have a hard time believing that a modded Lightning like your friend would lose to a stock 12 year old Syclone. Pulleys, CAI, Chip, and slicks would have that lightning at atleast the high 12's. No stock Syclone is going to run anywhere near high 12's. Traction would the Syclones only advantage and the Lightning you've mentioned runs slicks.
I'm not saying you're lying, just that under normal conditions, the syclone would/should be saying taillights.
