Exclamation New GTO shots from XXX DVD...

I got this link from NewAgeGTO.com's Message Board. The shots are taken of a TV screen showing the new GTO segment.

I'm still undecided on whether I like it or not, I'll reserve judgement until I see it in the flesh at NAIAS. Some people say it looks like a Cavalier in the front. The bulges over the rear wheel wells look too boatish, kind of like a Camaros. And they rate it at "300+ HP" ...I hope they don't make that the official number.

Edit, theres more than one pic, actually I think theres 10 or so, just click on the left or right buttons to switch pics...

...I'm not impressed. It's kinda generic style-wise. ::shrugs::

You mean you want a fartpipe and a park bench spoiler? JK

I've seen plenty of pictures of Monaro's and recently a lot of "new GTO" pictures, and personally, from what I've seen I think it looks horrible, nothing like an American musclecar but more like a 2 door Volvo. I'd buy a Cobra or Marauder before a new GTO.

pontiac needs to find a middle ground, their cars are either spoilered and scooped and ribbed for your pleasure or they're almost so anonymous as to not have any memorable styling like the next grand prix or this GTO.take away the arrowhead and split grill and the GTO could be mistaken for the previous generation monte carlo.the '74 GTO looks meaner than this thing.the performance will have to be incredible, because they're not going to get any sales on the unexciting styling or the movie tie-in to a half-assed movie franchise.is anyone at GM even trying??how the hell they let the Z06 out the door without screwing it up will be one life's mysteries!!!!

The xXx commercial actually shows you a sneak peek of it as well. Couple seconds, a headlight and a (Monaro) tail light.

I don't think so, we've seen our Pontiacs already. The 4ths didn't have the greatest presence of all the Gens in the 1st place so if the GTO is the same or less forget about it.

The GTO looks like a regular car.

Wooo, here we go again. How about I put all the generic replies in here so no one else has to:

"I don't like the GTO, it needs to be more aggressive"

"I think it looks good, I like the understated styling ala BMW"

"It doesn't even have hood scoops it looks nothing like an old GTO it needs heritage styling"

"Ugh it looks like a stupid Cavalier I hate it so much!!!!"

"The F-Body was better and this thing is going to cost more, I'd rather buy a used Camaro SS it'd cost way less"

Umm..

Let's see, which other ones am I missing?

I think it's great. So it's a little bland, big deal! It's not ugly, it's got a V8 and rear wheel drive. Is that what everyone has been complaining about GM lacking? Besides, I think it looks ten times better than most of the crap that's coming out these days.

Exactly.

But either way, we'll get the army of "it looks just like a Grand Am/Grand Prix, it needs more hood scoops, they should just call it a Monaro, blah blah blah blah blah" crap that happens every time a GTO thread comes up.

It's like the same few people every time, as well.

Yes, I fully understand you don't like the car, IZ28 and Pentatonic, you don't need to post about it another 20 times.

I think its a little conservative, but you have to realize that an overstyled car wont sell as well as a more conservative one. Besides, its nothign a body kit/ground effects package cant fix. I'll save my final opinion for when I see one in person.
