New Grand Prix GXP Grille....

http://www.thecarconnection.com/imag...8639_image.jpg

I was eagerly awaiting this car because I had put my hope in Pontiac fixing the ugly grille the GP got in 04. It was almost ugly enough to make me not buy my car, but then I saw they offered it in chome...which looked good enough to sell me on it.

Well now that I see the GXP Grille I wanna

I just have to wonder how this crap gets approved sometimes at GM. The obvious styling issue with the 04 grilles was that they were tall and too narrow. Instead of doing the obvious thing and making them wider, or even more along the linns of the G6's proportions.....they make them square ? Funny thing is, Bob Lutz held up the 04 GP because he said it's grille looked like Buckey the Beaver and needed a redesign. How the hell did this one slip past him? Looks like ***....just my opinion.

Bigger pic

I think it looks alright, the original '04 grill definatly needed to be wider, some photoshops proved that. Chrome grills helped a lot.

Re: New Grand Prix GXP Grille....

Damn , they went backwards . Theres all kinda stuff going on on that front end and it still likes buckey the beaver to boot . I dont know why , but the new front end reminds me of pontiacs new minivan . The grand prix could be such a cool if they could just make a front end that looks like it should be there . Even the 04's , the front clip kinda looks disproportionate to the rest of the car . IMO , Pontiac shoooooould have just made the GXP look indentical to the 04 Autocross concept car ....it was , imo , a sweet *** looking car . The projectors in the headlights looked cool as well .

Yuck! to the GXP

Seems that GM is going backwards a lot lately with their recent debuts and introductions. But, what do we all know, we're just people on the internet that don't know any better.

Re: New Grand Prix GXP Grille....

The problem with the grille is the hood/body line that pinches too tight on the front end. It forces a too narrow grille......hence the buck teeth.

What they need to do is shrink the fuggin' oversized headlights! I hate the way that the extend from the body and have a horizontal top surface.

These monsterous lexan headlights are going to be an expensive replacement part in 5-10 years when they cloud over and turn yellow.......I hate them worse than ANY recent styling trend.....

Re: New Grand Prix GXP Grille....

I don't know, it doesn't look that bad to me. I don't think its any worse, but I don't thnk its any better either...its just different.

As a previous-gen GP owner, I never liked this gen in the first place. A lot of my former customers are holding onto their old ones as well in the hopes that when they redesign the car, it looks better than it does now. Complaints typically trend to the rear-end styling, the dash styling and the way the UGLY, flat bodyside molding marrs the entire side of the car. Why not a simple, elegant, thin one like the old GPs have?

Re: New Grand Prix GXP Grille....

well at least it looks less like a gto now j/k the grand prix is a decent looking car, looks sporty and with just a bit more in the front could have looked great. Definite step back, maybe the aftermarket could craft an entire front end??

Actually, those grills would be the #1 reason I will never buy that car....I just could not wake up every day and look at that.
