New Dodge Ram R/T..... 0-60 in under 6 seconds.

Short bed. Regular cab. 2WD...What the Silverado SS should be. Pretty cool tailpipes, too.

If the new "Hemi 2" with 390 horsepower and 407 lbs/ft of torque can fling a 4,820+ pound Ram 1500 to 60 mph in less than 6 seconds, it should do a more than commendable job on a 3900 pound Challenger R/T.

You don't "fling" a 4800 lb. car, you "hurl" it, haha.
The Challenger R/T should be a pretty darn nice car with a 6spd, 3:90 gears, and a limited slip rear. I wonder what it will cost with all those options though.
The new Ram is not doing much for me. Maybe it will be better in person. I like the current Ram better. Similar to how I like the old Silverado better than the new ones.

The Track Pak is a mere $995 more.
What you get with that option in addition to the 6 speed manual and pistol grip shifter is the limited slip axle ratio you mentioned, performance steering and suspension, pedal trim, hill start assist, and the Hemi with the bumped power (375 horses... and over 405 lbs/ft of torque
).Oddly enough, all this is still cheaper than a new GTO was 5 years ago.
Challenger R/T lists for $29,995.

I had heard the engineers were tweaking the steering for 2009 as one of the few complaints of the SRT8's was how numb and unresponsive it was off center.
I will certainly take a serious look at the R/T. The LX chassis has proven to be a good one and the Challenger Concept I saw was absolutely stunning.
I hope the Camaro can deliver more performance and similar content for around the same price. Then it will really make the decision hard.
Great truck and better engine but like many have stated the timing is bad. It's not Chrysler's fault but with gas over $4.25 in most places ($4.65 in SoCal) it's hard to justify a truck and especially a sport model capable of going 0-60 under 6 sec.
This truck needed to be out for the last gen Rams and take it to the Tundra but that seems like a long time ago.
I see light trucks getting less specialized and more general like they were before the truck/suv craze took over, partially because of the '94 Ram. More trucks will become jack of all trades, full bed, 4 doors and V8 for towing as that's the only reason consumers will buy them. The days of driving a 4x4 Ram to work every day as basic trasnportation are over or very close to over.

Sorry,a truck that can do 0-60 in under 6 seconds is pretty damn fast, hell,a truck doing it in under 7 seconds is pretty damn fast. My old Pathfinder with the 3.5 was probably pushing 8 seconds hitting 60 and i LOVED it,it felt like it was really hauling,so this Ram R/T should be a blast.
Whoops,i guess you meant because of 4 bucks-a-gallon gas, still though,i think it'd sell even with high gas prices,i've seen plenty of those goofy Ram Daytonas and Rumble-bees and this thing is so much cooler than those,i'd like to have this,4 bucks a gallon isn't bothering me.
