Re: New Cadillac DTS
I'll admit it does look a little better than what I expected after seeing the limo... but I'll still stand by my remark that this is the first disappointing application of the Art & Science theme...

I agree on the Interior... it looks pretty nice.
I also agree on the Night Vision.... I think it fell into a "cool, buttoo expensive" catagory... even on a luxury car. Kind of like the Four Wheel Steering on Silverado and Sierra... a cool idea with great benefits, but pretty costly. 4WS was $4000 originally I believe... now it's a $2k option. Still pretty pricey, even at 50% of the original retail.
If I were looking at a full size truck, 4WS would be very attractive to me for parking in cramped areas and such, but the price puts up a pretty big stop sign. Z28x and I had a discussion about 4WS a little bit ago... I think we both felt it would become pretty attractive ataround $800-$1000, but can that price be achieved and still be profitable or even as a break even option for GM? Doesn't look like it.
Anyway... back to the DTS...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this is just a stop gap solution until the true Art & Science RWD DTS comes out in 2008.

Ya, you are totally correct... by "application" I guess I mean "applying the theme as a freshening to an existing car"... and most definately, that's why it looks the worst of the bunch to me....
When the DTS is redone as a whole, I expect it to look fantastic, like the rest of the A&S Cadillacs.

The "new" DTS just goes to show how weak and uncompetitive GM's products are becoming.

GM seems to be very intent on killing the DTS's traditional segment.

I suppose the logic is that its more profitable to sell 500 units/year of a $100,000 car than to sell 100,000 units/year of a $50,000 car.

Are you a total idiot? How is having THE BEST SELLING CAR IN IT'S CLASS showing that GM is "weak and uncompetitve"?!
