Angry New Bumper stickers..for those people you see buying imports..

Im putting it in here cus I saw the thread about Toyota not letting anyone in the plants. And with all the manufactuing talk on here about the plants I thought it fit

"Another American worker lost his job
because you bought an IMPORT!"

"Toyota Doesnt Make HUMMER!
You Support our Troops?! BUY GM!"

Have American Flag on you Import??
Know Where Your Dollar is Going??

Still think Imports are built better than U.S. Auto's?
I got ocean front land in Arizona for you too!

Another american gained another job because someone bought that Import. We need to stop with this fallacy that buying imports are detrimental to our economy. What I see is Japanese auto makers opening up factories over here creating a tons a jobs.

Per RP:

STATEMENT: “OH YEAH? WELL MY TOYOTA/HONDA/BMW/MERCEDES
IS BUILT HERE IN THE UNITED STATES!”

GM/Ford/and DCX provide 23.4 jobs per 100 vehicles sold in the US

The Japanese competitors? 13.3 jobs per 100 vehicles sold in the US

82% parts in the average GM car or truck are domestic content

At Honda, it’s 49%
At Toyota, it’s 41%
Nissan? 38%
BMW? 11%

(by the way……go look at what the ‘transplants’ pay in taxes….real estate, school, state and federal……you might be surprised……if you’re a teacher and you’re complaining about budgets in you’re driving a Toyota or Honda, SHUT UP!)

GM’s capital investment in the United States from 1999 thru 2003 was $20 Billion.

Toyota’s capital investment from 1980 thru 2003 was $10.7 Billion.
Nissan’s? 2.8 Billion from 1980 thru 2004
Honda? $5.6 Billion – ’80 thru ’03.

GM’s contribution to the U.S. Gross National Product (GNP) is 4 times that of Toyota

How sweet is it that if you're a foreign automaker, you open a few token plants in the U.S and you get everyone to believe you're as American as apple pie. For the vast majority of America, these automakers aren't helping America. But you're free to buy whatever you wish. That's what makes America great I guess, but my biggest fear is it's also what will eventually make America crumble.

Maybe instead of the consumers who buy the stuff made overseas you all should be directing your anger at the senior executives who took the jobs over 'there' in the first place.

They're the ones that 'sold us out'.

These stickers won't sell to:
*a person who wants a modern RWD sedan for under $30K.
*a person who wants a modern Hybrid car.
*people in South Carolina who builds BMWs.
*people in Fremont California who build Toyota trucks.
*people in Mongomery, Alabama who now have a major plant providing 2000 people with jobs and another 5500 who will be providing support.
*or other people who work in US Honda and Nissan plants here, which provide employment here in the US.

Also, blaming the buyers because our automakers misjudged the market is very convienent and very wrong.

*GM and Ford focused their attention on trucks and SUVs instead of cars.
*GM's current batch of designs aren't very impressive. Chrysler is the only US brand to have done this, and they are doing well.
*Where are modern RWD sedans that cost under $32,000. Chrysler is the sole US maker doing this outside of the Imports, and it's doing well.
*How about hybrids? Who else has been serious about getting them to market. No US based maker is doing this.
*What about affordable RWD coupes. Ford's the only US maker doing this, and they are successful.

I've never owned an import. Yet if it wasn't for the Mustang and Chrysler's LX cars, there would not be a single solitary new American made car I would buy for myself. I would be looking hard at Nissan's 350Z, Infinity's G35 sedan and coupe. I'd also be looking very hard at the Lexus' IS300, and even a used BMW 3 series.

And I would be extremely insulted if I were blamed for buying an import.

Why?

Because I would be needled for NOT buying a vehicle I didn't want, or even hated, instead of holding our US car maker's feet to the fire for not making cars that I or others wanted in the 1st place.

Let's put the blame where it really lies. Many foreign names are offering cars that the public wants. Chrysler is defying what's supposedly happening to the US auto industry because Chrysler actually took risks, while GM and Ford went the lazy route. Trucks & SUVs are high profit modest investment items, while cars aren't.

Also, how long does it still take for GM to bring a new car out? Reacting to what's happening today, GM won't be able to have a model on the street till 2010 as a 2011 model. Then again, if it's rushed at top speed like the Solstice was, it might be out by 2009.

Chrysler right now is reaping the benefits with most of the import brands, while Ford's CEO is working without pay and GM's diverting attention blaming health care costs.

Ford is going conservative on us, and if it wasn't for the Mustang & the Fseries, Ford would be looking terrible. GM has good stuff coming out in a few years, but this is stuff GM should be putting on the streets NOW!

How about this:

Buy a GM car with parts from Mexico assembled in Canada

My HONDA was made in OHIO by an AMERICAN worker with good pay and benefits. Where was your GM built?

Multimationalism goes both ways...

I hear all of this talk about the solstice and how fast it came about........ Long story short, I'm tired of looking at it and it hasn't even come out yet. I might even get tired of hearing about the GXP solstice by the time it comes out.

Okay, this is 2005, and you are living in world that does business in a global market. Don't get pissed because some foreign automakers are stealing shares from US Automakers. You are an American, and if you believe in the "American Way" you should have faith in capitalism. If the domestic automakers are getting beat at the car selling game, that is becuase the other guy has a better product, and/or is better at selling his goods, etc. The domestic automakers can only compete by making something that exceeds or rivals the competition, or fail and be replaced. I am not anti-American, as all but one of the cars my wife and I have owned have been a GM/Ford/DCM, and the one import was a rebuilt 2002 Mazda Protege our father in law gave to us. But, this isn't a time of good will, and I for one refuse to buy what I perceive/know to be an inferior product because it made by a domestic automaker. If they want my money, they will have to earn it.

With that said, I have seen some great leaps in products from GM: the GTO, Cobalt, G6, and Cadillac lines are great examples of this. This attention to detail is where GM will make its comeback!
