The new Audi S6/S6 Avant
The new Audi S6/S6 Avant
This time they have a naturally aspirated 5.2L V10, delivering 420 HP and 398 lb-ft of torque from 3000 RPM to 4000 RPM.
As much as 368 lb-ft torque is available from 2500 to 5500 RPM, and the engine is using the new FSI technology.
It also weighs 4200 lbs.

Re: The new Audi S6/S6 Avant
I want the RS4.
Twin turbo w/420hp on a lighter weight A4/S4 chassis.
FWIW, I was just not as impressed as I'd hoped when I sat in the A6. It didn't feel all that different from my A4... just larger, but not really all that much 'nicer'.
Not nearly the difference that I see when sitting in an IS and then moving to a GS, which is relatively the same difference in marketing that is between the A4 and A6.

Re: The new Audi S6/S6 Avant
I like it. I have liked most of Audi's designs recently with the exception of the A6. I am a little dissapointed in the V10's power output though. I guess that is good for the upcomming CTS-v. That interior is a little too Volvo for my taste.
Re: The new Audi S6/S6 Avant
The engine is a bit weak considering the number of cylinders and that M5 has V10 that produces 500 HP, 80 more than the S6.
S6, though, is not the top level Audi to compete with the M5, though. There still will be RS6, and I suspect the power will approach 500 HP. The last RS6 packed 450HP from its twin turbos.
Having said that, Audi never set standards in performance when it comes to power output. That has been taken by BMW and Mercedez.
Threxx... I sat in A3, A4, and A6, and imo there is considerable difference, specifically in how the dash looks and feels. I was disappointed with the A3 - premium price tag for dashboard materials that don't look any better than Cobalt's. But the A6 has much nicer materials, even than A4, and it has a very cool (I didn't say useful, just cool) center console.

The current A6 (and all Audis, including these hi-po A6 derivatives) still has the same FWD-looking proportions based on the Quattro system and having the engine hang way out over the front axle. Plus, it is saddled with the ridiculous new Audi/VW front end styling.
It is a fairly sharp car though, especially for an A6. 420 hp + quattro weight = CTS-V will probably be quicker, and for a lot less dough I'd bet. Of course, the S6 has a nicer interior than the V (which pricewise is more of an S4 class car anyway).

Re: The new Audi S6/S6 Avant
What i like about Audi interiors is that they do not attempt to redo the entire layout just for the sake of having something new or different. It's pretty much a classic layout, although modernized and improved. That's the way it's been pretty much since the introduction of 5000 in 1984 through to present.
As for the styling of the front... i still cannot get used to the A4, its headlights specifically. But the rest has grown on me. What I like about this S6 is the marker/parking/fog lights (or whatever they are) underneath the headlights, taken from the LeMans concept.
The new TT's front end is much better, IMO, than A4, and I like the direction that it's going. A little more edgy and less round.
