New Audi R8 pics

Some guy on an Audi forum I'm part of is a State Trooper in Nevada and snapped some shots of the Audi R8 while they were filming the commercial for it! There were 2 R8's in total - the first 2 final production models! This is the V8 model and the V10 version will be out the following year!

Pricing is also out and for ~110K USD it can be yours FULLY loaded with the award winning MMI navigation system!

It runs low 4 second 0-60 times (4.1) comparable to the BMW M6 and Mercedes E55 AMG which are both priced in that range! Lap times around the Nürburgring ring are sub 8 minutes at 7:52 which is identical to the Lamborghini Murcielago, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SLR Mclaren and the GT3 and it is 4 seconds faster than the Porsche 996 Turbo!

7:52 - GT3 (381hp)
7:52 - Lamborghini Gallardo
7:52 - Lamborghini Murcielao
7:52 - Mercedes SLR mclaren
7:56 - Porsche 996 Turbo
7:56 - 360 stradale (sport tyres)
7:57 - Lotec Porsche 993 Turbo (600 HP, racing suspension)
8:07 - Ferrari 550
8:09 - Lamborghini Diablo SV
8:09 - Ferrari 360 Modena
8:10 - Chrysler Viper GTS
8:12 - Porsche 993 Turbo (430 HP version)
8:15 - BMW Z8 400 HP
8:17 - Porsche 996 C2
8:18 - Ferrari F355
8:22 - BMW M Coupe 321 HP
8:25 - Audi RS4 375 HP
8:28 - Porsche 993 C2
8:28 - BMW M5 400 HP
8:32 - Porsche Boxster S
8:35 - BMW M3 Coupe 321 HP
8:37 - Mercedes C32 AMG
8:38 - Honda NSX
8:39 - Honda S2000
8:40 - Chevrolet Corvette
8:42 - Audi S4 265 HP

Audi officals also said that in the first year of production 100 cars will be produced and every year thereafter 800 will be made!

I think this car is to die for! The V8 version (Audi RS4 engine tuned) has incredible stats and the V10 (Lamborghini Gallardo engine) is expected to put up mid 3's 0-60!

I can't wait to see this on the road! It will be RARE, have major exclusivity, superb bulid quality and exotic written all over it!!

ENJOY!

Here is it completely decked out!

Not loving that red detail in the last pic, but I really like it.

I said it before, and I will say it again.

I like the R8. and to think, the Cien was extremely close in size to it. To me, it is pretty much the perfect sized coupe.

the bottom chop is a little odd, but nice. I would definately get it with HID's with the LED marker lights below, rather than just the LED headlights.

Still not doing it for me.

That black "blade" jars the whole side profile shot, and overall it just doesn't seem that exotic (compared to, say, the Gallardo on which it is based, or the F430). I also don't think I'm digging the black blobs at the corners, especially the huge ones under the headlights. They also make the profile look a little weird to me.

I mean, I'm sure if I saw one on the road, it would turn my head. It definitely stands out. And I'm sure it is a pretty damn nice car to drive. But if I were going to blow six figures on a car, I can think of others that would probably come first.

profile looks like an Audi TT got cut in half and attached to the back half of a Lamborghini Gallardo.

that being said, it's a cool car, and at least Audi has a high-performance coupe to boast of now.

I had some of the same quarrels you guys are posting. in pictures the front and rear looked odd.

In person, they seem to tie in together pretty nice, and although I would probably opt for a paint color accent on the side instead of the black, it does not look out of place when view up close.

That being said, some of you will see it in person and still hate it. Thats how it goes
