There is no need for all this extra weight, and it's using a lot of aluminum. WHere does it come from? I don't know, but that's porky for a 3-series fighter.

If the A5 comes at 3400 lbs with AWD and V6, I will be impressed.
Maybe the extra weight is how they achieve such good crash ratings with the A4? Its a tank, but a safe one.

Wow this thread took off...

Anyway, I like better this time around. I still think plenty of the angles are awkward. However, looking at this picture and how long the roof is behind the B-pillar it makes me look at it a bit differently... Seems more like a large coupe or something more along the lines of CLS, which I think it would be more succesful at... Still better than the abombination to man and God new CL...

Since I wrote this thread I read an article online that quoted the expected weight at 3320 pounds with quattro and V6. I don't have the link on hand anymore but will post it if I see it again. Not sure if it was credible either, but it was an online car editorial.

That's very true. The A4 I have now is kinda heavy at 3400 pounds, especially considering it's considerably smaller in size than the CTS, TL, etc... but it's also rated extremely well in crash ratings.

The exterior just doesn't do it for me, although the interior is typical world class Audi

Having said that, the F5 f-body, although rear wheel drive, still had the longest overhangs in the history of automobile . And shortening the wheelbase to 101 inches is, just, well..... why? After a while my Z28 started to look more and more disproportional because of that.
Yeah, I already saw his reply and addressed it with my own.

As for the Camaro, I think you meant the F4 Camaro (as the F5 isn't out yet). The F5 Camaro, if it is anything close to the concept, will be a bit shorter in overall length than the F4 was, and it is on a much longer wheelbase.

Plus, even though the F4 had horribly long front overhang, a good chunk of it was styling related. In other words, the main hardware (engine and driveline) were rather far back in the car, with just the radiator and other minor stuff up toward the front. The current Audis stick the engine right up there behind the bumper and radiator it seems.

As you said, it will be quite the welcome change to see the newer Audis move away from this.

D'oh! Yeah, I meant F4.

Not sure if you have seen S4 under the hood. It has V8 stuffed into the tiny engine bay. It's an engineering feat, in my opinion. Don't try any repairs, though!

What I see, though, there is a lot of space between the firewall and the greenhouse, which has battery, heater blower motor, and a bunch of other things. It really looks like they're taking up a lot of space, something that I don't see in most other vehicles.
