New 65:1 A:F ratio DI Honda Engine...
New 65:1 A:F ratio DI Honda Engine...
Some pretty neat stuff.

Also I hear that GM is working on a V8 with this same type deal with DoD. Should be interesting to see this technology saturate the market in the next few years.

Re: New 65:1 A:F ratio DI Honda Engine...
Hmmm...it works for me
No its a new 2.0L Vtec engine with an extreme lean-burn. Not the Accord engine...This isn't in any production vehicles yet.
GM doesn't have any Direct Injection engines in production right now do they?

Re: New 65:1 A:F ratio DI Honda Engine...
I belive that the High Feature V6's, 2.8 and 3.6, have the ability for direct injection, as do ecotecs, but no direct injection cars for GM vehicles outside of some Suzuki's.
Re: New 65:1 A:F ratio DI Honda Engine...
What does the term 'direct' injection imply? I thought all fuel injection was direct.
Also, did you guys catch that part about injection during the compression stroke?!
It's too bad that data is in metrics though.

Direct injection is squrting fuel directly into the cylinder, not into the intake manifold.
As for the conversions, they work out to 36MPG and 155HP. However, that MPG was in the Stream minivan. (http://www.tiscali.co.uk/motoring/ro...streamrear.jpg)

Re: New 65:1 A:F ratio DI Honda Engine...
They run like diesels (except they are still spark ignited). Overall lean burn, because the combustion happens in a "kernel" localized about where the fuel is physically located in the cylinder. So the overall ratio can be very lean (just like a diesel), but where the actual flame front is, the ratio is closer to stoichiometric.
Isuzu has a DI engine out already, and I think Audi/VW is going to have one over here for the '05 MY. Others, of course, are also working on it.

Re: New 65:1 A:F ratio DI Honda Engine...
GM has been saying that the Ecotec is DI & VVT compatable for about 4-5 years. So when are they going to build a DI model? we will just finnaly be getting VVT on the 2.4L Ecotec in May '05
