Re: new 2008 GTO

Hell, a four door "Charger" seems to be working for Chrysler, I would not be overly surprised if GM is/was at least studying the impact a four door GTO would make. Luckily I think GM values heritage a bit more.

Re: new 2008 GTO

GTO 2-dr coupe
G8 4dr sedan to replace Bonneville/GP.

Though I wish they would not change the name to G8.

Same drivetrains.

"The next-generation GTO will share much of its engineering with a new GM family of rear-wheel-drive cars, according to Jim Hopson, a Pontiac spokesperson quoted in the story."

Could the Camaro be in that new family???

Whatever they do, they better do it right this time. Dodge is about to revive the Challenger, and from what I have seen of it they have damn nice car with a powerful engine. That's going to be my route if the Camaro isn't to my liking.

I can live with that just fine. I do hope that they make the G8 (would definitely prefer the Bonneville or Grand Prix Name, or Tempest for that matter) with an AWD option, would be great for when I need to replace my GP.

Hope the pricing stays the same. If so, I'm game to buy it.
The new GTO is growing on me fast, and I'm itching to not have a pickup for a daily driver.

Re: new 2008 GTO

If they want to reach out to sports car enthusiasts and make a true RWD sports coupe, why would they do something as stupid as make it a 4-door?

Oh, that's right. This is GM we're talking about.

For me it's exactly the opposite. I learned my lesson in having the Camaro as a daily driver. Car just had the hell beat out of it. When I get my next sporty car, be it GTO, Camaro or Challenger, it will be a 3rd car. The daily driver is why I HAVE a pickup.

I think there's a type of devotion by alot of people in GM in support of the GTO. However, it's a mistake to think GTO is any type of subsitute for the F-body. That was never GM's intention, and to tell the truth, I think that's going to be farther from the truth in the future.

GTO-Chevy coupe-Monaro are/were NOT related to any F-body program by every account I've heard. Different class of cars, different markets and different sizes (think Monte Carlo replacement).

I agree. Its like a slap in the face to the Mopar guys. They have plenty of names, they could have used instead for that car.
