Tell Fritz:
Will Cadillac’s upcoming small RWD cars have performance characteristics - steering, braking, chassis dynamics - comparable, even surpassing the BMW 3 series. Will there be a V version to compete with the M3? And when can we buy it?
Dear Charles - thanks for your interest in Cadillac. I cannot give you all the details, but the answer to your questions is an enthusiastic yes! Dates are not too distant in the future, but are still not announced.

I love me an LSX as much as the next person, but the M3 has a pretty neat 4.0L 8300 RPM V8 that is VERY high tech. At some point GM will need something similar to be taken seriously. It would be nice if they took what they learned from the Atlas line and builts straight 6's for cars.

I doubt M3 owners would buy a GM vehicle if they are after prestige. However, if they are after serious performance, then I cannot see how a 4L V8 will see off a GM smallblock (LSX engines are all of the same external dimensions (i.e. 5.3L == 6.2L), and all are much lighter than an M3 4L V8!).
GM LSX engines are (well IMHO, at least) some of the best powertrains in the world, on any level you care to compare (with the possible exception being NVH).

It might also be cool if the ATS-V and 6th gen Z/28 shared some powertrain and chassis development.

GM squeezes more performance out of "old-tech" than most companies do with "new-tech" and it's simple and reliable.
More moving parts does not equal high tech. I'd call the BMW complicated tech next to an engine like the LS7.

However, we do not know the details of the upcoming Gen V. All we heard was that a engineer slapped a DI system on the 6.2L caddy engine and produced "well north of 470 hp". I would guess that the Gen V would debut on the C7. I think we are going to see the current Gen IVs recieve DI before the Gen Vs come out.

That is just what I was thinking.
