Hey guys need some info on the Matrix and Vibe...

read a post about this person test driving the cars and said the Pontiac has GM's problems of fit and finish and built quality.
So my questions are..and have looked but its saying GM or toyota for both..

Interior..who designed it Pontiac or Toyota?

Interior peices...who is the supplier? Toyota or GM?

I know the build is in Cali an dthe Matrix is in Canada..but if so what else is built along side the Vibe?

I want to tell him its perceived quality and they are both built about the same..its like saying the Camaro and the Firbird were built better than the other?? am I far off?? or is this person right?

Vibe, Matrix, and the Volt (the Pontiac Vibe that's exported to Japan) are all made nearby in Fremont California (in the San Francisco Bay area).

As you'd probally expect, they both actually do have the same build quality. Of course, perception being everything, Toyota's probally going to be ranked higher.

I believe there was a joint effort in making the things.

I remember Scott once saying the Vibe had one of the lowest quality scores of any current GM product. I was surprised he said that because I actually like them.

Yeah I'm kind of surprised about that quality score too, I never see them in the shop, everyone I know that has one loves it. It's a good little car that has been hot recently with gas crunch.

Are you sure about that? Isn't the Matrix made at a plant in Canada?

Looking at the nummi.com page they claim Vibe, Corolla and Tacoma.

The Vibe is almost entirely a Toyota effort...the only thing GM inside the car is the radio! And even then, I remember some a**hole who wrote in regarding Automobile's long-term test of an '03 Matrix...he claimed that the "crappy GM radio" should be banished from the car!

Have you SEEN a Toyota radio? Most use friggen LCD screens that don't even allow you to wear polarized sunglasses! Leave it to some a**hole to unnecessarily bash the one obvious GM part in the car...

And yes, I was with Guy when Scott made that comment And yes, I still hate the GD Vibe...
