IIRC the Camaro's concept was thought up way before F*rd ever got the idea, like around 58. Same for the GTO. (well we know the GTO came before it) It seems when F*rd thought of it, they just went with it and took the chance instead of waiting like GM always does. Maybe GM does it on purpose so they can just make theirs better than the other guy.

Doubt you'll see those two compared. I'd guess they'd be in completely different segments. I'd say the Z/28 will have waaaaaaay more than the GT's 300hp.

If you believe the dyno rumors coming out all over the place, the GT dynos from 270-290 at the rear wheels. Meaning engine power is around 320-350. Add in some tester input that it pulls harder than the current Mach1, a low 13 sec car, and all signs are for another Ford underrating job like the '03 Cobra.

The Z/28 with an LS2 should be out of the GTs class. The real battle is whether a 2V 5.3 SS can match the GT. If it comes in at a real 300hp, the GT will run all over it. Forget 3V pushrod motors. It's never going to happen.

whoa whoa whoa!! What dyno? Whos car?
You have dyno sheets on a car that doesnt exist? WOW!!
And you some how think that the 5.3 will have 300hp...like GM doesnt underate there engines huh? I belive Ford is the one to be watching...must I remind you of the 99 Cobra. Yeah, Ford always undrated there engines. How bout that RX8?
the 5.3 in the truck will make 310hp this year... im sure that somehow that GM's car engine might make a tad more power then trucks.

Why is that????????

There are pics out there of the engines and the heads, do you think GM is spending all kinds of cash to develop these engines just for fun?

Oh, I know the GT motor is underrated. I'd guess Z/28 will be waaaay beyond that too.

There is life beyond LS2, too.

You're confused. Loosen up the bowtie colored goggles and let some blood flow.

Not for sale yet and nonexistent are not the same thing. The car's been out for a year. Millions of people have seen the "nonexistent" stang at the autoshow this year. Whose car? Ford's car. Handed out to third party houses like Roush. That's where the rumours are coming from. Everyone talks, it's no secret at this point that the GT is making at least 320.

GM doesn't underrate anything anymore except the Z06 slightly. And they just clinched the title for overrating on the CTSv. 30-40hp overrated. Ford? Cobra underrated bigtime. Mach1 underrated 20 hp. Lightning underrated 40hp. I'm sure in 5 years you'll still be reaching back for the '99 Cobra as proof that Ford overrates all their cars.

You're confused again on the Mazda. Ford don't own Mazda, they're a minority share holder and have no managment in the company.

As far as the 5.3, I'll repeat it again. IF it only makes 300 the Camaro will get raped by the Mustang GT. If the truck 5.3 is going to make 310, then I'd say the 5.3 Camaro will make more and be competitive with the stang GT.

I'd say that is a reasonable assumption.

Yeah I've seen the head. That's why I'm saying NO CHANCE. No alloy on this planet is going to make that contraption fly.

You want 3V? Go OHC.

The Z06 and the CTSv have the same engine, the LS6. The CTSv is slower than the Z06 because it is 700lbs. heavier. They are doing 13.1 in a 3800lbs.+ car, I don't think they could do that with LS1 power.

What about the OHV 4V heads for BBC's and LT1s? I have seen quite a few of those over the years. I think you will see it before the end of the decade in a production vehicle, not sure if it will be a car or a truck 1st but we will see it. Remember GM showed off the 3V OHV heads in the XV8 motors in about 99. I think we will see not only 3V OHV motors but also 3V OHV dual camshaft-in-block motors before the half century is up.

Well I gotta admit I missed the 4V BBC and LT1 heads. I'd definitely be interested in seeing that. Can I just do a google search?

You got me there. Either the 13.1 was a wringer for the car rag circuit or the owners who've dynoed are wrong. The Z06 is a 12.4 car, so a 700lb heavier CTS with the same power should be a 13.1 car. I'd like to to see what real owners are running in the 1/4.

If they are dynoing low I would almost expect it to have something to due with the IRS setup. It can't be the engine because it is the exact same engine used in the Z06, and we know that is working as advertised.

don't forget the merauder i've seen stock imp ss's walk all over them.

when the new camaro comes out i hope it looks like something new with some hints of heritage and not take the lazy way out like ford and just smooth out a 30 year old design. if the new stang is a hit, i don't think it will last long, the retro thing never does.

Must be the depleted uranium half-shafts.
