my question is, why is no one talking about this?
People go to Lexus generally looking for a prestigious car for a moderate to high price with zero flaws and zero excuses.
People will theoretically go to Hyundai looking for a car that's understandably not nearly as prestigious but offers 90% of the quality and content of the Lexus for a price 30% less.
Hyundai is trying to market itself as "wow, you get an almost-premium luxury car for a discounted price". It's easier to pull that off with a value brand and value dealership infrastructure attached to your car's names.
If you try to create a separate premium brand and market yourself as one of the "real" guys then suddenly people become less impressed with your bargain price and more upset by the deficiencies that your car has that allowed it to be sold for such a bargain price in the first place, and how your dealership doesn't kiss their *** every second they've stepped foot in the dealership.
The 12.6-inch front rotors have single-piston floating calipers and the rear brakes feature 12.4-inch rotors with single-pistons on V6 models. Twin-pistons and larger rotors are featured on V8 models.
IMO, the car would have made more of an impact if they used a more unique and distinctive design.. It sounds like it could be a good car with great value, but with its looks, it still shouts out "I'm a cheaper and slightly more boring copy of existing cars."
I think I will trade my 06 Sonata on it. It will even be out before the Camaro. Sad that my best shot at owning a brand new RWD V8 will be through Hyundai. Oh well, I guess I will cry myself to sleep dreaming about the 0 maintenance costs.
JD Powers puts out a Vehicle Dependability Study every year that tracks quality of three year old cars. I cant pull up the 2007 study(04' models) but heres 2006.

Like I said before the media is gonna hype this thing to death because Hyundai is comparing to MB and Lexus and all the media attention is going to help them move cars but you are a fool if you bought this over a CTS or C350. I know alot folks on this board dont care but this thing will steal sales from GM.
Hyundai makes some impressive products other than cars. I would not underestimate their capabilities to become a very large threat to all automakers.

This company can make anything it wants, if it wants to be a huge automaker they will be hard to stop.

I've looked it over, and I dont see anything that I dont like. If it's rear-wheel drive, and it can be commercially successful, I wish Hundai well! When the time comes to do some shopping for a four-door family sedan, I certainly would take a look at it, along with the Pontiac G8. My list of cars that interest me is very, very small but this would be one of them.
Since I tend to hold onto cars for a seriously long time (I average over ten years, typically), resale value isn't really much of a factor. In fact, since I tend to buy used vehicles that are three or four years old, perhaps a low resale value would be an advantage!
Will it hurt GM sales? ..Maybe. However it will also draw customers from BMW, Lexus, Ford, Infiniti, and Chrysler LLC. I doubt it'll hurt GM in any disproportionate way, relative to the other competitors.
