Re: My idea of retro

I hear a lot of talk about squeaks, rattles and bang in 3rd gens, but I really havent had much more than a squeak or two, and usually a minor repair fixed that. But now, 2nd gens that I have driven used to bang & rattle over RR tracks pretty loudly, with any speed that is...but more than likely it was due to maintainance issues rather than crappy design...

I looked it over closely, and saw the once-fine LR floorboard had a fist-sized hole in it.

Some cars you regret selling, and wish you had back. Some cars you don't want back. This Formula is one of them.

R.I.P. my RS...I never should have sold that car, and I know it was "treed" about 6 mos after I sold it in 2002
You think that is bad, my Firebird had a hole roughly 1ft. diameter hole in the drivers side floorboard and several "fist size" holes in the passenger side and rear seat floorpans. It also had a tranny leak, but that was nothing compared to the water leaks, coolant leak, A/C leak, and numerous engine leaks. Ahhhh... I'll never forgot those high school years.

Ya'know there one thing about 3rd gens, I see alot of people parking them in the grass, for whatever reason...then wonder why the floors rust out of them.
They are so low to the ground, that if parked in the grass, or gravel, for an extended period of time, they can't get enough air-flow under them to keep the moisture down, and rust accelerates under them.

Re: My idea of retro

Actually, I went to look at an '86 V6/std Camaro coupe, acouple of years ago. The price was cheap, like $700.00. When I got there, it was in his front yard and he said he'd been trying to sell it for a few months and gradually had been dropping the price.....(It had a rust hole in the drivers side floor, nearly the size of a basketball.) Turns out he said it had a small windshield leak,(I found the wet drivers floor mat.), plus it had been sitting in his yard for months!
