The Chevy SS concept originally had this, however people did not like it so they took it out in favor of a traditional shifter. I hope if SS makes production it is at least an option. Now I love rowing thru the gears as much as the next guy, but I'm all for faster shifts. GM bring on the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. Don't be left out in the cold just because some people refuse to bring in the new. I wonder what the Ford faithful will think about this?

I guess Ford didn't want to completely over-do it with a big pistol grip shifter.

Pretty pimp. Will this be an option or will it come standard? I wouldn't be surprised to see it limited to just the Cobra. The GT and Base will probably end up with the stick shifter.

They are going to have a paddle shifter in the new 04' Grand Prix, so it's not that big a deal anymore. Those things are massive, maybe they are handicap controls..................(insert smiley). By the way, aren't et's usually better with a traditional manual?

Here is the problem with the paddle shifter. If the steering was just like it is in Formula cars then yes, it would work nicely since you only turn the steering wheel around 45* each way, unlike in a regular car where you have to turn the steering wheel couple times around depending on turns you have to let go of the stteering wheel therefore not being able to use the paddle shifters, thank you but I think those things are lame and I'll stick to my regular short throw in the counsel.

I think on the Aston Martins the shifters are on the steering colum so they don't turn with the wheel.

The C6 with the 6 speed automatic will have paddle shifters.

That will most likely be on a automatic trans. This isnt a auto it is a sequential gearbox.

Yep guesswho, I know about them. About 2 summers ago, Ford had some current Mustangs running around Detroit (unless I'm mistaken, a couple of people here also saw them) with chrome paddle shifters Ford was developing. There was also a components guy over on the blueovalnews boards for awhile that mentioned it a couple of times.

I don't remember if it was going to be an option, or if it was going on some of the sport models (Cobra? Mach1?), but it was certainly going to be on the next Mustang. Mustang was also planned to have a host of other electronic goodies that was aimed to bring Mustang slightly upmarket.

Since we're on the subject, there will be a mid-line Mustang that will fall between the base & the GT, much the way the Camaro LT and Berlinetta fell between base & Z28 Camaros. That's right! FIVE MUSTANG MODELS!

Base, (insert model designation here), GT, Mach, and Cobra!

As I said awhile back, Ford is going all out with the new Mustang. You would think that Chevrolet would have a concept car planned for next year's Auto show circuit that will steal a bit of thunder from the 2004 1/2 Mustang introduction at next years Detroit show, wouldn't you???
