Mustang GT500 tested
Car and Driver has tested the new GT500 and they seemed to really like it. Ford is sticking to their promise of delivering this beast for under $40K, they say between $35-$39K and C&D estimates a base price of $39K. Official numbers still arent in but its at least 450hp/450tq

That thing could go a lot faster I think. Some things not mentioned, this thing is on 255 tires.
The production version will have 285's. They said there was no traction with almost 500 horsepower, and crappy 255 tires. So there would be a massive improvement there. Don't forget that Car and Driver can't drive worth a crap. These people drive C5's to high 13's, lt1's to mid 14's
Depending on how this thing hooks up with the newer tires, i think they could knock a good few tenths off.
The only downfall of this car, imo, is that it is weighs like over 3800 lbs.
I don't know how other people feel, but i wouldn't be suprised to see a good driver like evan smith or somthing to drive this thing to High elevens, on a great day, with traction.

Lets just hope GM revisits history and brings out a competitor to the Mustang like they had to back in the mid 60's. The better the Mustang does, the more it will show GM the market is there. But then again GM just seems to be King Midas in reverse lately.

Why are all you guys saying that it's "not bad". Trapping 116 in a production car for less than $40k? That's amazing. I give Ford a
, and that's hard for me to do since I'm a die hard GM guy.
