Re: Mustang and F-body.

Okay, disregard the Camaro bias for a domestic one? Maybe I shouldn't say my other car is an engine-swapped Honda? Now that is funny.

I have a Camaro bias AND a domestic one.

I think that ALL Z/28s are a waste, unless they are coupes with manual trans. When I see a Z/28 convertible, I think - gee what a girlyman, don't they know that real Z/28s are coupes.

Here's something odd, I disagree and I find this kinda ridiculous. I agree with the convertable thing, (I don't like them, which adds to it) but not the manual thing. The only reason there was no Auto 67-69 was because it wouldn't have worked right with the 302. I do understand your perspective but I also think some people need to stop thinking that the 1st Gen is the be all of Camaros. There were 32 more years of them and many would best 1st Gens in every way. (except some special editions) On a side note, the one and only 1st Gen 68 Z28 convertable owned by Chevrolet's then General Manager is the most valuable Camaro ever due to it's rareness. A million dollars was offered for it and was said to not be enough by the owner. The only way it's selling is to offer him more, and it will happen. Look at Hemicuda Convertables. So, maybe all-out performance and convertables shouldn't be over looked.

You do realize successful products have to sell in specified volumes . And the camaro's role isn't that of a low-production niche (sp?) car. There's a reason why it's priced affordably, and the base car sports a v6, and that's to make high production numbers/sales possible.

Camaro was always a high-volume car selling into the 6 figures for most of its lifespan. Infact, 95 Camaro sold 122,738 units just 9 years back. I even think it outsold Mustang that year. They were selling near 200,000 units in the mid 80's, and that's not including firebird sales. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and early 4th gen cars were really popular and sales point to that. Only reason why the late 4th gens are relatively rare is due to lack of popularity with the general masses. Sales wise, that's not good when the product isn't connecting with the intended market (in this case, mass populace and not enthusiasts only).

I wish i see a bajillion camaro's come 07 or 08 .

Great!
Now, replace 1st with 3rd and repeat that sentence 20 times.

While we all have our favorites, I don't think any Gen is the be all of Camaros. They all brought something good/different to the game.

I truely appreciate your honesty dude! It takes brass to be honest in this forum 'cause you WILL get binged about it from time to time. But honestly, you are dreaming of white elephants (unless you are wealthy). You can't have exclusivity (low-volume cars) and affordability (anyone can afford). They are salt-and-pepper, high-and-low, left-and-right - in other words "opposites".

I admit I don't know you or your personality, but I can only see a guy like you (based on your comment above) being happy with a radically modified pony car, a hot-rod show car of some kind, a company halo car (like a Viper or GT), or an expensive "tuner car" (like a Saleen or Callaway) --- problem is ALL of those take buck$!

Let's just hope for a wildly successful common-man's Camaro first, and then work on your exclusive limited-edition Camaro after the initial crowds shrink a little and the profits start piling up for GM - whadayasay?!?!

Re: Mustang and F-body.

Yeah yeah yeah...common man 'maro, then the ZL2...

Actually I am in the process of learning to drive stick so I can finish modding my CRX and leave the Camaro stock. Worth more stock, and costs too damn much to mod. And BTW, I'm perfectly happy with either CRX or Z28 vert, although the vert is better for attracting the opposite sex Even if the the new camaro does come out soon, I don't have the $$ for any version of it.
