Mustang and F-body.
Re: Mustang and F-body.
I've always enjoyed driving around town and only seeing 2-3 4th gens as opposed to 30-40 mudstains (great one!). It makes me feel as if I am part of an elitist group or something. I see more girls in mustangs=its a chick car. The reason I despise Mustangs? They are everywhere. Most are V6. V6 or V8, the drivers think that their car is God's gift to Mankind. I've never met a mustang driver that didn't sneer when I nodded or waved at him. I am a huge fan of Cobras. Most chicks driving V8 mustangs or Camaros don't really know anything about their car, that's why I don't like chicks driving muscle cars. The Camaro doesn't have to sell as well as the Mustang, that would completely ruin my biggest love of the car. Low production, enough muscle for an SS to take a Cobra and a Z28 to smoke the sh¿t out of GT's. That's all I want out of a fifth gen. The better car doesn't always sell more. It doesn't have to.

Re: Mustang and F-body.
I just reread my post and realized that it sucks...lol. Oh well, my points remain. Most stereotypes are based on generalizations, and generalizations are based on facts(the good ones, anyways). In general, women don't know **** about cars. Does that mean all women don't know **** about cars? No. It just means that most don't. Why do I say this? BECAUSE IT IS TRUE. Most don't even care, they just want a car that looks pretty, that's why you see most in V6 mustangs as opposed to GT's and Cobras. Same goes for Camaros. When a girl tells me that she thinks my car is beautiful, I like it, because it is a compliment for the car, and my car is pretty girly. Sport Metallic Gold Convertible Z28...lol. But that's pointless, what I'm trying to say is, of course the the mustang is perceived as a girly car by so many people, because the majority of them seen are driven by girls. Most of those are V6. I do see women driving Camaros, and most of them are V6. BUT, I can say the Mustang is more girly because I see more mustangs in general than Camaros. I know this is off-base and really not relevant, but maybe you can see how so many people consider the mustang a girly car and in general a car not to really be taken seriously because such a large percentage of them are sold to buyers that buy it because it looks pretty, not because it's fast(GT's and Cobras, of course, V6's are built specifically for this group). Camaros, however, unlike mustangs, are very purpose-driven cars. I like what was said earlier...I love the fact that my car is a purpose-built land missile. The fact is, Camaros are seen as more of a manly car because they are obviously built for one thing(Unlike mustang, which is built for people to think they are successful when they get one*), except for the V6, which was said before, as being built for one specific group, chickies wanting a pretty car. I do like the fast V6's, some girls want to go fast, too.*
PS- Theres no way you can not take in the fact of fathers buying cars for their daughters in the whole numbers argument. I don't argue numbers, because I don't know them, and they don't really matter. What matters is what is seen everyday on the streets.
*=j/k, don't take this **** seriously people. The whole mustang vs. Fbody thing is so stupid...Just like mustang owners....*

Exactly. I want to see some wagon with transverse composite leaf springs.

Now, to your points. As has been posted elsewhere in this thread, appx 55% of all Mustangs are purchased by men. Camaro's male purchase percentage is within 10 percent. Of course you are going to see more "girls" driving Mustangs, because (in the last 10 years) there have been alot more Mustangs sold. Also, we have a tendency to see what we want to see. If you are a "Camaro guy," and have the belief that all V6 Mustangs are driven by "girls," you are going to "see" what supports your belief. In other words, you will look at a V6 Mustang going down the road and say "yep, there goes another girl in a Mustang." On that same token, if you see a guy driving a V6 Mustang, you will still use that to support your premise by thinking to yourself "thats probably her boyfriend/dad/friend driving HER car." You will then conveniently forget that you saw a guy driving one. You do not notice the girls driving the Camaros as much because the decision has already been made in your mind that not very many do. On the same token, if you do see one, you will just justify it by thinking "wow, that guy let his girlfriend/mother/friend drive HIS Camaro." Once again, you conveniently forget about it, since it does not support your premise.
This same type of thing has been used in politics, polls, and statistics for years. You start with a preconcieved notion, and structure your poll/statistics to support it.
Remember this though, if you want a mass marketed Camaro (assuming it isn't a small production niche vehicle) to be successful................ you better hope it is a "girly" car (you know, ride decently, be relatively comfortable, not have to fall into/climb out of, be of decent quality). Todays buying public will not embrace a "manly" car.

Re: Mustang and F-body.
You know something? I might dislike F*rd and make fun of M*stangs whenever I get the chance, but I really can't fault anyone for buying or liking American Muscle regardless of brand or make. They are not imports and I would much rather talk to people with V8/RWD over those stupid things.
While we stay here almost being made fools of by a company that seemingly doesn't even know exactly what it's doing with the car yet after all this time, the other company has a new car without it's real and original competition out there to teach it a lesson or two.
The super slow and stuck on mediocrity GM that we've come to know in recent years has many skeptical if they can really do the car right. (especially after the GTO and SSR) If GM doesn't learn how to create excitement again soon and take advantage of their history, they will lose many of their real and best supporters. Can they make a car that's a 100% "done right" hit anymore, (besides the Corvette) something that people have to have? And no, I don't want a Chevelle to the executives that are reading.

You are in for dissappointment...
You like GM products...
You like car that has uncompromised performance...
You like a "dedicated land-missile"...
You acknowledge that a car like that will sell in low volumes...
You don't think it needs to sell in high volume to survive...
You have just described a car that GM is already building, with a Chevy logo on it...
the Corvette.
Why would Chevy build another model just like the Corvette and park it beside the Vette on a showroom floor?
The other thing that strikes me about your posts is your reluctance to elaborate on any kind of pricing, costs to produce, MSRP's, anything. Do you have a clue what it costs to develop a car, what the payback period is on a model, how many units are required to reach profitability for a unit? Cost is everything!
You, my friend, will never see the car you are wanting and describing above, from GM, unless it's a C6.

This thread is simply hillarious!

I don't know if some of you guys are just insecure about your purchase or just need some testosterone regulation......or maybe just a good talkin' to.
My favorite post here, is the one that says, the Camaro's interior proves it is an especially manly car.
"Hey just look at this drab rattling interior! See this plastic? It's so cheap...it would never make it into a Neon. See this leather? Yeah, it looks like cheap vinyl - only a man would get it. And check this out,I can go to Pizza Hut and bring home my dinner on the dash board. Yep, that's why I bought it, 'cause it's interior is sooooo sonofabitchin' MANLY! ARRRGGGGHHHHHH......"
Just because girls buy cars...doesn't necessarily mean that they're girly cars. There are lots of products in the world that can be appreciated by everyone, regardless of gender. You can fine tune a product to focus in on a more specific niche though. I can't imagine a Mach 1 or Cobra being considered a "chick car".
I have to admit, I have my own prejudices though. It has to do with Z/28s and convertibles. I think that ALL Z/28s are a waste, unless they are coupes with manual trans. When I see a Z/28 convertible, I think - gee what a girlyman, don't they know that real Z/28s are coupes. Sorry, that's just one of my hangups.

Okay, disregard the Camaro bias for a domestic one? Maybe I shouldn't say my other car is an engine-swapped Honda? Now that is funny.
BTW- ProudPony, I said that is what I want, I never said that that is what I'll get. I hate driving around town and seeing a bajillion+ Mustangs. If that's what it'll take for a fifth gen to go in to production, I guess I can deal with it.
Although either way I'll still probably not be able to get one for a decade or so
PS- DrewSG, We can be like that, because the LS1 IS God's greatest gift to modern civilization.*
