MT Z06 Quarter Mile Time...

This may be apocryphal, but the time being bandied about is...

11.5 @ 127mph.

This was SUPPOSEDLY run by MT's Detroit guy who is supposedly not their best driver. The best Ford GT ET recorded by the major mags was 11.2 @ 131mph.

There is no other information, and the information above is still kind of fuzzy at the moment. We'll have to see what shakes out, and what the conditions were for the run were.

Things are going to be very interesting.

Rumor mill says that the rated horsepower for the Z06 MAY still be up in the air and that the 505hp rating may be revised... my impression is that it may be revised UPWARD.

Sounds like Ford GT's introduction playbook.

I'd be curious to see the badges on the production cars that are being built now.

The tooling for the badges could be replaced in 4 weeks with ease... faster if they wanted. I've seen EDM sunk injection molds done and shooting parts in a week as long as they are relatively simple, and this one looks like cake to me - no sliders.

Re: MT Z06 Quarter Mile Time...

They recalled a bunch of G6's cause it was missing a page on how to put in a car seat...
They could EASILY bring back a bunch of cars for a badge, or just have people come back and dealers will put it on, and not call it a recall.
I dont know of any deliveries yet.

Yep.

If they already had them built and delivered, it would cost an arm and a leg to have you guys at the dealerships replace them, but it could still be done... kinda of like a TSB fix.

Your service guys put on badges all the time.

Re: MT Z06 Quarter Mile Time...

lol hell make it a publicised recall...

We have a recall, your car has too much power!... we must adjust it, so everyone else knows it has MORE power!

You know...

That's got some serious merit to it.

It would be a terrific way to build up some press.

That would be the first recall to miss the media, knowing GM's luck.

Re: MT Z06 Quarter Mile Time...

I've been saying all along that the Z06 is going to make a lot of Ford Fanboys very nervous...here's the first of what will be lots of evidence.

Now to settle in for several months of GLOATING as story after story proves me right...GM can build a $70,000 supercar that is the equal of Ford's $150,000 supercar.

Exactly! Now if Chevy wants to throw in more power.......Hell more power to em'. I can't help thinking though the new Z06 will run faster than 11.5. I will see for myself at E-town, when they're out, what they'll do. I'm sure there will be guys who actually know how to run a car.
