More Hints On Where "It" Could Be Produced

...and this...
GM is attempting to capture its share of that bounty by building the Solstice, Saturn Sky, as well as versions for Opel and Vauxhall to be sold in Europe, at its Wilmington, Del., assembly plant. The factory was once dedicated to building only the discontinued Saturn L-series midsize sedan and wagon. The three new roadster models still aren't enough to fully maximize the plant's capacity, leaving open the possibility of building even more vehicles there.
A low-volume passenger car for GM's Buick brand is being considered that would serve as a halo vehicle to bring attention to the brand, Reuss said.
Re: More Hints On Where "It" Could Be Produced
Guess that makes sense. Buick is building a version of the Velite within the next couple of years, but I figured it was going to be at the GM Craft Center.
BTW, Last word on the "Riviera" was it was going to be on a modified version of another chassis (directly from Lynn Myers herself if I remember, though she still refered to it as a Velite type car). She didn't say what chassis it would be based on, but I seem to remember she ruled out Kappa and Zeta.
At the time I read that as FWD, but that's just pure speculation on my part.

GM fast tracks factory closures
Wagoner: Company has 'clear line of sight' on plants' restructuring, lopping 25,000 jobs.
DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. is intensifying its push to cut 25,000 factory jobs and close several plants over the next few years.
The moves are critical to GM's goal of running its 24 North American assembly plants at 100 percent capacity by 2008, up from 88 percent this year.
"Over the past four months, we have done a lot of detailed work on this, and have at this point a reasonably clear line of sight on our overall manufacturing restructuring plan," GM Chairman Rick Wagoner said. "Our next steps will be to work this plan in detail with the affected unions. We are planning to announce further details on this manufacturing restructuring by the end of this year."
Several plants are shaping up as likely targets for closure, which likely would occur after GM renegotiates its labor contract with the United Auto Workers in 2007.
Analysts say a number of factors will determine which plants are shuttered -- the age of the factory, the amount of investment GM has made in it over the past 15 or 20 years, productivity and production flexibility. Labor relations will also play a key role.

It would seem like there's a lot of capacity to be filled at this plant between 2005 and 2008. Maybe a shot in the dark, but can we start connecting the dots?
