it said 550 hp earlier for the z06-r correct?
i think we need to figure out if this and the blue devil are one and the same
it seems silly to have only 550 with the supposed "blue devil" if so since the z06 is gonna need some room to grow eventually

 

wtf? why would make a road versioned race car (the vettes intent for decades). then making a racing version of that raced inspired road car (z06)(i like this idea). then make a faster racing version of that road version of a race car. i like this as an auto enthusiast, but why make a racing version of the z06 when you can just make a race car (blue devil)?
i saw the z06-r should have atleast 600hp

when is this supposed blue devil coming out?
the z06 is gonna take chevy spotlight for car shows in 05, the blue devil or camaro in 06?, or maybe the camaro in 07?
it seems like they want to release a few cars but i'm not sure you'd want to debut the blue devil and the camaro at the same time (or performance coupe for chevy, whatever)
the blue devil would definately overshadow it
just wondering if anybody had any clue on a timeline for these vehicles

 

Last we heard, Blue Devil was shevled indefinitely.

Anything beyond the upcoming Z06 is probably some ideas floating around at this point. Even engineers like to speculate and introduce various possibilities that we end up hearing about.

 

Very nice, but why offer a z06 and a z06-R. Why not dump the middle 500hp trim, and badge the 550hp version as simply the "z06"?

I'm not crazy about the "R" designation as you can tell. Leave that to the imports.

And to the other poster who said if he's reading it right we can expect something more powerful than the 500hp z06, to answer....YES.

 

I like the idea of calling it a C6R vs a C6 Z06-R, as the C6R will soon carry some race expirence behind the name. But I do agree with most posters, idealy a lineup of 400 hp C6, 500 hp Z06 and 600 hp C6R would be probably the coolest thing - ever.

What does everyone think about the targa Z06? I like that as well, but doesnt Z06 carry a hardtop tradition?

 

actually, the z06 got it's hardtop "tradition" from the previous frc (fixed roof coupes) that came out before the z06
will it be optional targa or mandatory targa like the base c6?
i know they gotta have a hardtop in there somewhere
maybe that "blue devil" will be the hardtop this time around

 

 

All the Corvette enthusiasts seam to think the ZO6 will cost between $60k and $70k. They also seam happy to pay that because if what we hear is true, it will be worth every penny of it. Although, some people have stated that the 70k might be exceeding their reach and they are really hoping for 60-65k. Hopefully Chevy is listening.

 

how did the z06 suddenly jump up to 60-65k?
i thought we were shooting for somewhere between 55-60k

 

60K is the lowest realistic anticipated price, imo...don't be surprised if there is a substantial increase this time around...I think GM realizes that they had such a winner with the C5 Z06, they could have sold them for $10K more, and still had a hot seller, as long as it didn't come too close to the viper pricewise...It doesn't really matter to the vette crowd, many of whom have multiple corvettes, or simply use the vette as a 'beater' for their Lambo or Porsche...but if i ever strike it rich, I'll take mine in dark bowling green metallic

Cause so far what I hear is:

bigger wheels, more aggressive suspension
25% more hp (400->500) by more displacement
a drivetrain to go with that 500 hp
brembo brakes
flares

smg?
Lighter materials?
removeable hardtop?

And they are going to do all that for $5000+ more than a base vette? I'd really like to see that, but I'm starting to doubt that goal.

 

$5000 more than a base Vette would be about $49,000 (C6 priced lower than C5) A $59,995 Z06 would be about $15,000 more than a base Z51
