Monaro Vs. Murano (The Murano is already in the US)

Have you guys seen Nissans new high-tech 2003 SUV called the Murano. I always seem to confuse the name with the Holden Monaro.

If you havent seen Nissans new 2003 Murano SUV that starts around $28,000 for a 240 HP CVT click on the link below.

http://nissannews.com/multimedia/nis...3/murano.shtml

I actually test drove the Nissan Murano for the heck of it and the thing I was most impressed with was for one the interior was really high quality and it actually consisted of real metal trim (not painted or chromed plastic) and it accerated and handled like no other SUV I have ever test drove. I really dont know what to think of the exterior, at first I thought it was Nissans version of the AZTEK but in person the Nissan Murano looks pretty racy for an SUV.

I now only have to wait less then 2 weeks to seen the new Pontiac GTO (Holden Monaro) in person at the LA Auto show on Jan 3rd.

What do you guys think of the Nissan 2003 Murano's interior and exterior?

Is this car the FUTURE of things to come or is it Japan's version of the AZTEK?

Murano = 2003 Gremlin.

Don't care how fast it is. Don't care how many metal bits are in the interior. It's the first car that made me scream out loud when I first saw it.

Nissan, Aztek owners are thanking you. Profusely.

On the outside, it looks like Nissan's very own Aztek. The interior does look nice though.

I'm still confused about the subject.. versus.. Is there anything really to compare between the two? Besides the slight naming similarity, I think not. One is an underpowered overpriced ugly crap-SUV afraid to get dirty in a long line of underpowered overpriced ugly crap-SUV's afraid to get dirty, and the other is a cleanly designed modern sports coupe that's about to redefine GM. Unless I missed something

I really hope that GM keeps the price of the GTO around $29,000 to keep it competive with other coupes out there like the Infiniti G35 Coupe.

My "VS." thing was really more about the name similarities.

I got to see that thing on 2 separate occasions this year. The 1st was a promotional film shoot by the San Diego convention center last spring, and the 2nd was up in San Francisco last summer when they were doing still shots on Stockton Street. It looks weird in person, but it's not ugly IMO. The interior was excellent.

I wish the Aztek looked that good....not that I'm advocating any SUVs, of course.

No, that would be the dorky Honda Element.

Yes there is. Bad Styling vs Bad Styling. Which is worse?

As much as I hate the new GTO, I'd have to say that the Munaro looks a lot worse.

While I agree that the Nissan Murano's design forces most people into either the "I HATE IT" or "I LOVE IT" camps, but it is far from being an plastic-clad and underpowered Pontiac Aztek that has design angles going in a million different directions.

Even Nissan's PR person said that 1/3 of the people will hate the Muranos styling but they hope it will catch-on and make a nice niche in the SUV marketplace.

The buyers who made it Holden's biggest blockbuster ever would probably disagree with you. As well as those who will buy out every last GTO and sing its praises. There must be a reason why they can make 28 different vehicles off that platform, all looking pretty much the same, even the SW's and trucks, and come out highly profitable and with delighted customers. I respect your opinion but you're in the minority on this, and more importantly you're just wrong. If ever there was a slam dunk for GM, the Monaro is it. I'm glad they have the brains to try and capitalize while it's still fresh.

I love the Murano!

I think the Murano is the best looking sport ute that ever was, lots of 350Z elements in its look. I like the inside too if its not trimmed in the Pumpkin color. I will prolly get a Murano someday if I need AWD ever again.

Actually I think Nissan and Infiniti are really on the right track in the looks department, along with Mercedes.

Its no Aztek, quite the opposite. Yes that Dorkass Honda Element is a better Aztek comparison, or the H2 Hummer.
