Re: Mercedes-AMG E 63 AMG

this 6-3-litre V8-engine is the world’s only power unit to combine the high-revving concept with a large displacement
LS7?

j/k... yeah I'd say they're both in the classification of high revving large displacement motors, though the LS7 doesn't rev quite as high and has around 11% more displacement - it also makes a bit more power.

The LS7 makes more power?? The article states the AMG motor makes 514hp. Don't know if that is metric hp though. Even if it is in metric hp, the AMG motor still makes 507hp, 2 more than an LS7.

Just in case someone chimes in, yeah I know, there is probably alot more untapped potential that can be realized in the aftermarket from the LS7 than the AMG, but this is about stock motors.

*Edit - yeah, I am pretty damn sure the hp number for the motor in this article is done in metric. Still, the motor makes more hp than an LS7 does.

Seeing that everything in the article is rated in metric, I would bet that that is a European article. I have noticed most European mags still don't seem to give any serious thought or reflection to American motors, so the LS7 was probably never a consideration to whoever wrote this when they wrote it.

I was basing that statement on what I read about the motor in that edmunds.com link I posted.
