Media not ripping new Grand Prix!
Media not ripping new Grand Prix!
I have seen two reviews in car and driver and on thecarconnection.com and both had nothing but praise for the car...not one single complaint. C&D even wen't as far as to say pontiac may be on track to be the American BMW
I wonder how thier impressions will change when we get the RWD Prand Rix in 06-07 thats already been under development a year and a half!

Like I said in another thread.... I sat in this car at the Cleveland Auto Show, and the seats were fantastic.
Super super comfotable, and they felt more liek a suede leather or something different. Very nice.

I think I said this after the LA auto show, but the interior of the new Grand Prix is about as good in quality & materials as the CTS. You can tell the same people designed both.
I'm still neutral on the exterior though. It's not a bad looking car, but it doesn't have the "star quality" that the last one had when it came out.
But then again, I think the "boring", "dull", "unimaginative" GTO looks good, so go figure.

I wasn't blown away by the interior of the new Grand Prix, but it is nice to see decent amount of praise for the car. I agree, the styling is a bit neutral and not particularly attention grabbing.
The current R&T also has positive impressions of the car.

I like this car alot inside and outside . The one thing that is wrong with the new GP though is the wheels . None of the wheels Ive seen on the car actually go with it at all , and like the CTS , 16" wheels look like 14's on the car . A attractive 17-18" thicker spoke split 5 star wheel would do wonders for the exterior appearence .

The article in Automobile magazine (http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...iac_grandprix/) isn't entirely favorable. Saying it's a rehash of the old car and not the "quantum leap" they expected.
Especially interesting is the quote of Lynn Myers at the end of the article.

Ive seen a few mags, Autoweek and Automobile rip on the new GP. Personally I think it lacks the instant winner look that the 97-02 GP had. Seems like this car is too tall or something, lacks that wide track stance.
I think the interior is nice and looks good but the dashboard plastic is still there its just another color. I, however, feel the dash on the CTS is cheap looking and feels even worse. When is GM gaing to move ahead with some color or alloy parts to give the interior and especially the dash some contrast.

Anyone else find the subject line of this thread as funny as I did? I mean, is it really that bad where the media "not ripping" on a new GM product is cause for celebration? Maybe in 10 years we can get the media to actually speak nicely overall about a GM car. Ugh...let's start with the new Camaro!
