Is it just me again (heh) or is anybody else SICK of hearing "European Driving Experience."

G*D D*MMIT I WANT AN AMERICAN DRIVING EXPERIENCE

I swear I think about 40% of the American Population would rather LIVE in Europe. I've been to Europe several times for work and it's nothing like the perception that people give it here...

Yep, the Astra.

From what I hear, Saturn will become sort of an American distributor of Opels, so I wouldn't discount seeing an Astra here eventially.

I have been interested in buying a TDI VW fo a lil while now- and yes the VW fans hates the new styling of the Jetta- but if you drive one- espesially with the DSG trans...nice! I was set on an 04 or older Jetta TDI til I drove a new one. they get ~45mpg too...sweet.

I haven't seen a non-gay VW in a long time, and that is no exception.

I agree. However I think, just judging by some of the posts here on there seems to be a market for this type of vehicle, even if many of us.....just don't care.

No, me Too! I want an "American Driving Experience" an American Musclecar Experience to be exact! And I agree that some of the population would rather live in Europe, I also believe alot of those same ppl have been told America is bad.......very bad! And maybe this has something to do with them looking for some mystical so-called Euro driving experience. Maybe they (GM) can build something for everyone. I think they have, can and will. This was the "Greatness" ppl speak of, GM needs to return to. They made something for everyone. I even know some who still never got the El Camino, yet alot of ppl did, and do, and would buy one if it was made, just like this little hatch-thingy most of us don't get. With the hope of a "New" Camaro on the horizon, and products like the Cobalt SS, I think the tides may be turning, GM is starting to get it. Now I hear the complaints about the SS badges being thrown on everything I'll give ya that, but you have to admit, it's a far cry from the the use of the nova or lemans names from a few years back, these things ain't exactly slow. And while many of us don't get it, or care. GM ignored that market (for many reasons) for years, and is playing catch up here, so I guess I cut em' more slack than most typical Chevy guys still about our car which, we do get! So naturally I would cut em' some slack, for trying to entice buyers away from the competition.

Give us the classic American driving experience! We want cars that drive like old Buicks! We want suspensions that with huge amounts of travel and they use it over every bump! We want cars that LEAN through the corners! We want steering that dosn't even react unless you turn the wheel 45 degrees. A dead zone in the steering is good! Who cares about razor sharp steering! We don't want sedans and econo boxes that drive like sports cars. Only cars like the vette should be set up for performance driving. Who in their right mind wants to drive something from the autobahn? We want cars that WALLOW!!!!!

Wow.

So what you're saying is, if you like a car that handles nicely, has a sweet gearbox and is a blast to drive.... you need to move to Europe? Are you implying that liking fun to drive cars makes you somehow un-American?

Please tell me that you're kidding me.

No just a Rant. I've been getting alot of this "European" stuff lately and if you've ever been to Europe it's not all that great.

Also, Americans are so quick to forget their own heritage that it's sickening.

The car thing just topped it off...

And the majority of the cars in Europe are cheap econoboxes that are much worse (IMHO) then our Domestics cheap offerings. A Ford Taurus or Chevy Malibu would eat 75% of European cars alive.

A True European driving experience would be like driving a 5 speed manual Aveo EVERYDAY! Think about it. heh

I still bet that little **** box would be more fun to drive and handle better than a Taurus or Malibu.

Um no that's not exactly what I meant. You just described old American muscle. Maybe I'm mistaken here, but the later model versions, are more along the lines of what I'm talking about. I'm not suggesting we go backwards. And no thanks the vw is not my idea of a fun car. Little **itboxes do nothing for me!
